Today I was given a box of antique "farrier tools" by a client.

Most of them I recognize, but seldom see used any more. Some Of them, I have absolutely no idea what they are, if they are indeed "farrier tools". Some of them I don't think would qualify as actual farrier tools ( like the tin snips ), even though they may have been used in a farrier practice. Most of them look to be of professional quality.

One example is a pair of ancient replaceable blade nippers. I'm guessing that some of you may recognize them, and could give an interesting explanation of them and their use, or origin. How about a contest later in the year - Nov or Dec to identify the tool, and tell what you know.

We could base the winner on whoever gave the best post on "what tool is this?". The contest could be decided by rating posts, so no judge would be needed.

    Regards

Be more specific. Does that mean no kevin bacons/oil, grinding on the shoes or 2nd cut files? Or is it just no sandpaper?

If i may suggest another contest for another month,

same as this month, only difference, allowing the use of buffys, sanders, oils, fillers etc, before and after pictures, with comparison to this months entries. call it , au natural vs cosmetically enhanced.
