You can usually slide your business card under the heel of that one too but not many folks notice disimilar hinds because they don't seem to distort nearly as much. Both fronts and hinds with issues need to be addressed if there'as to be any hope for a performance carreer.

Anyone worked on a horse given Botox therapy for a club foot? Apparently it has been patented as a treatment for clubfoot in horses.

Linda, it just doesn't seem to be based in reality or have much to do with any horses except pasture ornaments

Support is what you do for your needy friends, it is the most over used nonsensical word in farriery. It is banned from my practice and replaced with what accurately describes the function of the shoe in question. Vets and ignorant horse owners, please feel free to keep using the phrase. Farriers should know better.

David I face this quite often when I get new horses from other areas of the country, particularly with hinds. Jumpers with heel extensions/bilateral straight trailers or whatever you want to call them, Dressage horses with "lateral support".... ubiquitously applied.

When I ask the clients why the horse is shod that way... "More support". Well crap, I don't want to offend a new client, so I don't press the point. But I guarantee they would have no idea what that is supposed to mean.

Usually a line that "I'm gunna give 'im more support out back luv" sold them on a particular farrier... then they all copy each other.
