Actually I think it does need to be pointed out because many have forgotten. Our schools get the day off for Martin Luther King Day but do not get the day off for Veterans Day. Something about that just doesn't set well with me. It seems the world has forgotten all we have done for it. Granted we are in a pretty sorry state at the moment. It seems every one is quick to bash us and even quicker to ask for help.

From what I understand from talking to people who were alive during WWII you'd probably be speaking Russian instead of German if we wouldn't have stepped in.

We are on a similar path as they were before WWII. Everything Hitler did was legal too.

George do you know that when a British dignitary comes to the United States we do not play our national anthem to greet them. That way we don't remind them of the revolutionary war, every other country is greeted by our national anthem when they meet the President.

So who protects these neutral countries?

True, but it was irrelevant. All I had to do was shoe in any of the surrounding states because they didn't require a license. And no, I didn't pay some one off, but had I been a crony of the examiners, or if I had known someone who was a croney of the examiners, then I could have been a blind, double hand amputee and I would have passed the exam.

Well, since said individuals were in fact licensed but the rat just failed to see the license prominently displayed, it was just a mean spirited turf protection action.

I did not advocate any illegal behavior. And my use of the word "Rat" is accurate and appropriate.

Apropos the discussion, you should be able to figure it out. And you are (as I already stated) correct as regards Unions and Unionistas.

Works for me. Perhaps some day you'll let me try your rose colored glasses.

Sure. That group of individuals who if you were not affiliated in some way with, would deny you the ability to work in your profession/trade. Let me give you but one example of how it worked as regards the farrier licensing board in Illinois. A candidate came before the board. One of the first questions asked of said candidate was( and here I paraphrase) "If granted a license, where will you be setting up your practice/custom?" Depending on the candidate's answer, the scenario would be as follows. The examiners would put their heads together and one or more would whisper( and here I again paraphrase) " We can't let him have a license, he's going to practice in my area or my friend Billy Ray Jim Bob's area and that will hurt me/Billy Ray." Or, "Well, hell, he's going to be working so far away from any of us or our friends, it won't affect us at all, so if he does any kind of job on the exam, it won't hurt to let him pass and get his license. In fact, it might just help our image and quell some of the complaints the State has been getting about us......"

Its refreshing to hear you say that.

Content in context with comprehension, George, content in context.

Well that leaves me and a bunch of others out of the equation because I/we beat steel, aluminum, and sometimes, copper and/or, titanium.........

I didn't say that so don't try to put words in my mouth. But there are a helluva lot of horseshoers out there that never or almost never light a forge and from what I have been able to see/gather, seem to be doing just fine and so are the horses in their custom. Seems to me that yet again "It Depends" is in play.

Oh, OK. But that forum does to seem to have more than its fair share of whiny, bitchy, horseowners. And please note I said horseowners not horsemen/women.

Yes, absolutely. In fact, several of those who are regulars here are regulars there too.

The members of the Good Ole' Boys Club and their initiates. When the ILHA went out of existence it was replaced by the LLHA and nevder missed a beat.

    Asked and answered.

Tom, there was a "breeder" of Wiscamp broodmares near me years ago..the mares all ran in the river bottoms and were basically worked like cattle..I was asked to clean up their feet for a dispersal sale...50 head, man all I could see was dollars until I got there...I have worked with baby elephants out of Africa that didnt try to kill me like those mares did...needless to say I walked away..at the sale barn they ran them through and sold most of them...BUT when the new owners attempted to catch and load out with them , the Shit Hit the Fan!! I sat back and watched the show...lots of pissed off new owners...

It was a long time ago and I will not kiss and tell.....

George, please refresh my memory. On the periodic table of the elements, what is the atomic number of steel?

No, I prefer to call them what they are. And I have no idea what ole' Tubal called himself. Even as old as I am,
I wasn't around back then and it hasn't been reported on Fox. :)

When I worked with exotic animals , I worked with some really great Vets that were big into hoof care on alot of differant species. Now none of them were Farriers, but did refer to the old Calvary manuel to help understand...when I decided to go to shoeing school I jumped in with all I had..went to the local Florida Farriers clinics and started my safari of learning....I found out that when you wanted to certify back then, that you got one hour to shoe a horse..then later that evening you went into a room with some farriers and a vet and they asked you questions about shoeing..If you passed both parts you were a CF..didn't have the CJF yet... Thank God Almighty that Texas is a Right to Work state, so there is no Union to kiss up too if you can't shoe a horse properly and get fired..no one to run to that would come to the owners and force them to use you just because you are a card carrying member in good status.. that is what unions do for most workers in other fields as I understand it...Farriers are Fearlessly Independent and if they can not run their business correctly, you sit at home alot looking for the phone to ring...IF there was any kind of Regulation the Feds were to put in place, it should go after all the Two Week Wonder Academies and force them to TEACH properly and expect their students to be prepared for the work...? JMO on a rainy day..:)

    Technically, that is incorrect.
Genesis 4:22 says "And Zillah, she also bare(sic) Tubal-cain, an instructer(sic) of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah."
