They are finally done. Here is what I posted on Facebook...for those of you, like Ray, who don't have Facebook:

I have donated these hot fit tongs to Ray Steele of Farriers Forum. He will be auctioning them of at the Summit next week. All of the proceeds will go the the WCB's charity: 'Don't Brush Off Breast Cancer." If you go to the Summit, stop by Ray's booth and check them out.

They are made out of 4140 steel and the jaws are set for 5/16" stock. They also have a ring lock on the end. I took pictures at each step and made a 'How to - Dragon Tongs' photo album if anyone wants to see how they were made. Also, Craig has a great video on his website that shows how to make a pair of 1/4" tongs...I have watched it over and over.

Sometime tomorrow Ray will set up a thread on Farriers Forum for the auction. All you have to do to bid on them is register on Farriers Forum if you are not already. Ray will ship them anywhere in the world, so even if you are out of the country and would like to have them, please feel free to bid. Thanks!

John has informed me that the tongs are on the way to Cincinatti via USPS and should be there Tuesday.

We will open the bidding as of now, today, approx 10.52 am e.s.t.. I will accept Michael Allens bid of $150.00 to start

Posts will be limited to bids and or comments about the tongs, if folks want to offer other objects for another auction /cause contact me and we will work on setting it up. Ancillary , off topic, or inappropriate posts will be deleted!
Bidding will end next Saturday Feb. 2 at 12:00 noon est.. All bids will be posted on this thread through www.FarriersForum, I will ship the tongs to the high bidder via USPS ,UPS or in person the following week . Winner will make out the check to WCBs charity, I ll have complete info by the time of the close of the auction.

May I suggest that you let some of your horse owning customers know about the auction ,they may want to do some early Christmas /special occasion shopping for their favorite hoof care provider.

As an aside, we may often think of breast cancer as a woman 's problem, breasts cancer is also happens in men.

    John and family thank you

I took one more picture of them this morning before I boxed them up. They are about 23 inches long. I left them long so they would have more flex...that way whomever gets them can use them in a variety of width of shoes, inside or outside web, without having to squeeze a death grip on the reins to get the lock on. Happy bidding. :D

Denise, my wife and daughter wanted to bedazzle them before I boxed and shipped them...didn't happen. However, should you so desire, I will ship you whatever color you want. They even tried blue. :) At one point, they had blue eyes and red nostrils which was pretty neat looking.

$200 I love the tongs. Had my own scare last year and would love to give more to the cause. The pic of you holding your Grandmother is just priceless.
