Anyone have any ideas for photo contests? The don't need to be the usual horseshoe photos. Let make them somehow relate to the industry though.

If they are of shoes they should be strait on shots and clear shots of shoes ...No upside down or sideways shots of shoes to try to hide your flaws.

LOL, I agree! If I were judging a shoe and saw a glancing shot I'd slide it down the table! ;) I would say whoever is the judge will layout the details for what they are expecting though. The plan is, pick a judge and let him decide on the type of photo contest it should be. Could be a shoe, horse pic, season pic..... could be anything.

I would much rather have photo contests of kids, family, apprentices....... I'm all for the shoes contests but I'd like to get everybody involved around here.

How about a photo contest of wheels on a vehicle that remind you of horseshoes? :)

Since I've been known to shoe my share of foot wavers, I'll go first......:)

    7,360 × 4,912 pixels - a 24 bit raw file would be over 100Megabytes.

Should be able to print "grainless" continuous tone images up to 17"x 24". But there are very few lenses sharp enough to actually resolve that kind of detail and only under perfect conditions.

Here is a 6095 x 4984 JPG image that would be about a 24Megapixel compressed image. It was scanned from 2.25" x 3.25" film - 4 times bigger than 35mm. Supposedly the new Nikon D800 will exceed this level of detail.

You're going to need a dedicated computer just to store a couple pics with that.

I have 2 terabytes of network attached storage. With compression I could hold 40,000 pictures.

Bruce, there's a couple ways you can do it.

    1. In photo bucket, right click on your image and copy the image location. When you are creating a post, click on the add image icon. Paste the image you just copied in it.
    2. In photo bucket, click the share button above your picture. Then just copy and paste the link in here.

I want to make this first one something everyone can get involved in. I give extra points if it farrier related. But this one will at least be open to guys that don't make shoes.
