Im sure if there is any news in farriery George will have it up first and its good to have a few forums up and running i think we are spoiled now with FB and these forums i think George will run it well
Hey George gonna be like Fran on her news blog..except not as good looking and he will not ask you to buy a mag and keep your money..
I'd imagine it did take George quite a bit of work trying to figure out how to set up a forum/website. At the end of the day the only thing he actually set up was categories. Everything else his host set up for him. I can't imagine having to type .invisionzone into the url is going to help his google ranking. It's never a good idea to have a website url that will never show up first on google rankings. It does look nice and hope it works out. Hopefully he doesn't takes Ray's approach and gets with somebody computer saavy and takes the time to learn and understand the software so he can get the site working the way he wants.
i was thinking of going a head with one myself Eric wouldit be over my head running it would have material in a bundance
actually, a hammer-in here in the states IS big news---they don't happen very often in my neck of the woods.
I think some still miss rays point for this site... Rays seems to be a simple tec kinda guy that while at home at night enjoys logging in on a like minded site..he seen a chance to save a site and happen to have a brother in law that could run it.. rays has no intrest in being a slave or task master to a web site..and ray is to the age and/ or time in his life where family and work is more important than being head boss of some site that should about run itself considering its all adults...in other words if ya wanna join the site fine if you don't fine he could give a rats ass.. I for one enjoy the light hearted moderating of the site...
Travis, last I read ray had to move to a new server and pay more money. Forums are not self running and you need to be up to date with things. Otherwise it costs you more for no reason.
A man knows his limits its all Greek to me Eric..must be to ray also.. what sounds easy to you and a no brainer for you guys leaves guys like me lost...and I'm sure its frustrating to you guys that is simple and we can't see it..the smart thing would be to hire someone to help us cause it be cheaper in the long run....but ..f*#k that noise we figure it out the hard way..lol..
George's forum is probably much better without those who suffer from LITTLE Man Syndrome. Unfortunately they haven't developed a pill for that yet.
Would you please stop making unfounded statments for all of America. Guys getting together to forge is not that unusual. Im sorry if the unions or something else has killed off the level of work in your area.
I had three other Farriers that would come to my shop. One guy moved away and the other two aren't interested to work in the forge anymore?
... But they do have a pill for that Karen...it comes in a 12 oz can and the more you take the bigger and badder you get ..and you love any and every women in a five mile area...
your wrong as always......around here it is...and unions have nothing to do with it. already talked about this before on another thread.
And so because you have to drive out of town to find a hammer-in you assert that scarcity of interest in your area applies to the rest of the USA, except of course Delaware where there are fewer horses, fewer farriers, no forging competitions ever, and only one hammer-in a month. Meanwhile the Pennsylvania Professional Farriers Association (IN YOUR STATE) holds two AFA certifications a year and an annual forging competition combined with a hands-on forging clinic. Half a dozen WCB hammer heads live within an hour's drive of your house - they scarcely need an excuse to pound hot steel on a daily basis and every one of them would welcome anyone who would ask to hang out in their forge and play in the fire.
Linda please re Read your original statement. You said a hammer-in IS NEWS in the STATES. I simply asked you to not make unfounded comments about all 50 states. Would you like to come over this week for one, I just got my coke forge back from a freind that needed it. Give me a days notice and we will have 5-6 guys. Nice time of the year to visit here
