When I have to wake up early it's considered work, however once I get to the job site to start working it's fun.

    I enjoy farrier work because...

    Great workout
    Working with horses
    Pays well
Like art, satisfying to improve the hoof
    Have always enjoyed working outdoors

I have passion. I get to go shoe horses. A variation on Dave's line that I've used for years is that I don't have a job. I get to play with horses and do arts and crafts.

What a bizarre lot we are! We have our arse higher than our head most of the day, work like navvies, stink like a cross between an abbatoir and a rubbish incinerator, get cut, kicked, bitten, slobbered on... and we call it a passion?

Yet there it is. I guess we'd go do something else PDQ if we weren't. (y)

. . . sounds like science fiction fantasy - making passionate love to Klingon women? :barefoot:

I'm like a vampire, I never work outside or in the sun for anyone. And I always do it for the money.

That's awesome Dave ..good on you..but let me assure anyone who thinks there passion is more than the next guy because he says so or shows his passion in a diff manner ...im not saying your saying that .. but I took Bruce post as saying ray and rick had lost there passion for the trade..profit is not a sin ..and surely if you know how much you donate to the dollar you also claim on taxes..its all business and needs to be treated as such..I help folks all the time when others turn them away but that dont mean i love the trade more than them..just means all show it and or focus it in diff ways.. also one thing ..if your getting rich as you say frofrom Shoeing horses then your idea of rich and mine are different..we got a name for that kind of rich in the south and it ain't wealth..
