I think, If you have the time and money, you won't go far wrong with either one. JMO

I know heart land focuses a lot on forging and they have 24 week course with an internship half way through and butlers longest course is 12

Go for as much as you can afford, both financially and time wise. You'll find that it's never enough. I know first hand that Heartland is excellent. I'm guessing that Butlers is too. 12 weeks vs 24? A no brainer. The other consideration is that they probably both have a waiting list, so make up your mind soon.

Thanks for confirming what I had in mind heartland is full for this year already but I believe that's gonna be my first choice I talked to Chris yesterday and ask him how soon I could put in for 2014 for the 24 week class I'm gonna go blister or bleed its been a dream of mine for a long time I'm 29 now already getting a late start for a profession that takes years of practice and dedication to even consider yourself a decent farrier.

Oh yes definitely Smitty I'm gonna shoot for at least 2 years with the best farrier I can find that uses handmade. I worked for two different guys about 5 years ago but they only used kegs tho.

You might also want to consider the Kentucky Horseshoeing School and Cornell. There are other excellent schools but you can really get confused trying to figure it all out. I will stick with Heartland, Kentucky and Cornell as my recommendations as I know the instructors and the quality and level of instruction you will get at any of them.

I'll second Rick's recommendation for Kentucky Horseshoeing school. They have the longest program and they are often able to place their top students in a paid apprenticeship program. Also worth considering is the fact that Kentucky Horseshoeing School recently built a new state of the art facility.

+1 on Mitch's school...... We have a young man in my area who's two years out of his school that is doing very well... if he is any indication of what Mitch turns out, seems like a great , solid, program....

If Mike was still at Cornell....well...................

From the main menu run your mouse over "Course Options" and then select one from the list.
