I have a client who wants to put a wedged NB shoe on one of her horses. Currently it is in a size 3 kerckhaert eggbar (no wedge). Should it also take a #3 NB or are they sized different? Thank you!

I think it will depend on foot shape. If your foot is long and narrow, a #2 would likely be what I'd go with. If your foot is broad and "normal," #3 may be better. Hope others will chime in that use these shoes on a regular basis cause I'm limited in knowledge of NB sizing.

His foot is very broad and round, with a pretty straight toe. I think the NB will fit him really well without much shaping. I just want to make sure I get the right size shoe as I have to special order them and don't want a set of them in the wrong size riding around in the trailer and not getting used.

all you do is take the used shoe with you; both of them and go to the supply house and get the NBS shoes that fit a closely to the old shoes as possible............if it is a trim......you trace the foot you are going to put the NBS shoes on and buy the closest size; and shoe the horse.

Even though you quoted my entire post I see that you didn't read the part where I have to special order them. There isn't a farrier supply shop within 180 miles that sells anything other than basic shoes, nails and rasps. So. . . common sense tells me that driving 360+ miles round trip for one pair of NB shoes is grossly impractical. ;)

And I just went ahead I ordered both the size 2 and size 3. Maybe I can get some pics up of the foot before and after if anyone would be interested.

I think they run a size smaller than kerks.

Every used shoe pile ought to have at least a couple pair of unused nbs in them

Attached are photos of a NB #1 wedge and a Triumph #1 for you to compare. Good luck on creating the wedge you want with an eventer unless you use a bar wedge or similar device.

NB sizes seem to run 1 size smaller than kerkhart. Horses that I fit up with #3 kerks generally take #4 NB shoes.

Probably a good idea to order a few sizes, esp. since it appears that you are not familiar with that brand style of shoe, I could not tell you how they are sized so I can t answer your question directly, I ll look forward to your pictures.
