The problem is between the fetlock and the ground IMO causing the flairing. The lateral toe of the shoe being a bit more forward than the medial causing more leverage and more flairing, then the clips are dragging the foot over with the flair thru the cycle. Toe clip him and see what happens. The toe of the shoe on the LH is better suited for the conformation that I can see in the pics, bit more forward medially and back a little on the lateral.
i would go along with toe clipping but i was trying to get it accross that Josh was making life hard for himself having the clips to close
Do you think the medial toe nail is in the right spot, just move the lateral toe nail back to the middle of the source hole which would make a better toe?
Justin i think when making shoes if you get your toe formed well and your dialed into the feet your dealing with i find everything should become easier nail placement clip placement and so. giving him the best possible trim you can also makes life easier as you well know

For that size of foot you need your clip approx 2 1/4" from the centre mark this will let you fit your toe nicely under smaller size feet can be different

Yeah, me! They are nails with tungsten pins in them but they're not nailed through the hoof, just through a hole punched in the heel of the shoe and blanked off on the foot surface.
Gary, I d suggest that you remove your name from these posts,if the revenue man is reading ,and if you do this on a regular basis, your tax rate for income rcd. via barter value may go quite high, just a thought! do you use the nail with the pin vs just a pin in the high area of the rim for any reason or just ease, thanks Ray
Pins would probably be more effective, but require a pillar drill. Since I have no power tools at all in my van, it is easy just to punch an extra nail hole in the heel and blank off a road nail. Everyone who I have used this method for has been surprised and satisfied by its efficacy, so I guess the answer is they are quick, easy and effective in my circumstances.
