Here some show shoeing. Horse just got back from florida.

Notice the source holes on the shoes that come with clips.

Undid heel is hammered but gave no extra width.

The grooves to make it look like the horse has trailers.

The problem is that there are not enough horseowners to pay 300 for such work so we could have a farrier meeting once a month in Hawaii or the Carribean.

Finally a good thread !! When I work for a decent Trainer of TWHs that are at the most are shod liteshod or flat, there is the opportunite to build side weights and such. Dont do many toeweights as with alot of them hoofprep will help that .. On some reiners I will bump up the medial toe on one inch wide shoes for more of a medial support..canchasers alot of time need lateral heel support but thats just how I see some of them needing as I watch them run. And when it comes to the Vets imput, they overrule anything simple like a plain barshoe in somecases? If it doenst contain two tubes of Vettec and major wedges they are lost..I have a rodeo horse down right now with what the hotshot vet says is bruised navicular? I suggested barshoes and rest , he wanted glue ons and keep running??? Where is the Bang Your Head Againest the Wall icon???:censored:

Yeah, my observations on anything are useless, just because I'm not interested in pissing away money on a fruity little club. We all have our interests; mine just doesn't lead me to travel all over the country beating iron for free. I do it in my driveway or with friends, just because I like it.

Your kidding, what's the point. Was their some shame in using preclipped that he needed to make it look handmade. I often extend the height in preclipped shoes but never made a fake source hole.

I think he just tries doing what he's seen others do. As you can probably see by the shoes he's not to good at this shoeing thing.

That has got to be the most absurd thing have ever seen or heard of...that is just silly..if someone is that worried about looking the part...but hell for all we know some smart ass farrier prob told him those source areas where for traction ..like a mud grip... Thats what I have said before when asked..but never had another farrier ask...maybe the owner was coaching him along..lol..

It's not that uncommon with the circuit shoers.
