Do we have any farriers on here that use the n/b shoes. Got a new yard the other day and the 1st horse I was asked to shoe had these on. I was asked to reset them, his feet were not that shape so you can imagine
Have not seen one in a few years.shoes changed quite a bit from when thay came out.looks like it would almost be useful now .still be a pain to shape. smitty thanks for posting
Difficult to shape, difficult to nail. I use them after I have tried everything else and it hasn't worked. They mostly don't work either, but I have had a few do ok in them. You can make a pretty good copy out of an eventer. There is a whole special protocol to applying, according the the NB guys, but most I see they just close the heels and line up the quarters. The NB crowd always claims that if they don't perform a miracle it's because you didn't put them on nright, LOL. Regards
Is there a reason they want nb shoes as opposed to someting that conforms better to a horses hoof, like say a toilet seat.
Where I've seen NB shoes 'help' a horse that was going wrong is when a shoer had them perimeter fit and a vet or someone said to put NBs on and, like magic, the horse went better. Just give the horse some breakover and some heel behind. Any shoe will work if you get it hot and hit it.
Seems that St. Croix and Kerckhaert shoes never get credit for helping a horse or blamed for harming a horse.
goes better in a park ! Bale a horse off a 60° slope and tell me how mutch you and him like the increased breakover
The horses that I shod with NBS and did well are mostly wearing kerckhaert rollers now. They move just as well and have better quality hooves.
makes me laugh every time of I think of the idea of good old Patty tutoring Smitty in nBS protocols. where is she when we so desperately need her?
