Don't think that was the lack of respect he meant. Though maybe is part of it.

You don't have too. Upping the pressure works for people as well. Ever challenged a woman holding a taser or Glock 40?

I don't spend a lot of time dealing with cops. Back when I worked at the gun shop, I met quite a few. cops are worse about "little man" syndrome than the little men.

Oh I got that part and Travis' response above confirmed my first suspicion.

Yes, just like men, there are cops that think the badge gives them some kind of supreme standing above all in that they are not accountable for their own actions.

When actually the badge, limits you in that your held to a higher standard. Everything you do is scrutinized by the public.

Now from the time that I've been on here, if you still think I belong in that group, Travis, then you don't have a good feel for personality.

In a ten year career as a police officer, I've only been in three fights. Reason: I never talked down to anyone, cursed them, or pushed my presence unnecessarily.

Even in the worst parts of the county and city, I've had brains outsmart brawn. I've talked a Meth dealer with an active lab into my car, prior to backup. As well as, a burglar I watched come out of a building then stop with an eightball of coke in the his car.

Getting off my soapbox now, but your not the first to assume such.
(nearly) everyone hates cops, some cops perpetuate that through their actions.

I should have stated that I don't think you're like that at all.
Those (rs was here, travis, stop with the mouth) beat everyone over the head with their job, like they're somehow "annointed", when, in fact, most of them just title nined their way into a position they have no business being in.

Why is it that nobody ever complains when a woman says, "all men are dogs" or "all men are pigs," but some get offended when a man refers to a subset of all women as "female dogs?" Seems there is a double standard . . . (added by Tommy)

Another one who can't actually read for comprehension.

However please note that I wasn't arguing the relative strength or musculature of some men versus some women. I actually said

IF you think you're big and muscley enough to use brute strength and force to wrestle a horse then I seriously wonder what the heck you're working with and doing!

I'm gobsmacked that there's still so many Neanderthals about! IF you think that using strength and brute force has got anything to do with training and handling then you seriously need to get out and learn some more!

Those sort that think using machismo brute strength to subdue or overpower a horse, like they're somehow "annointed", are in fact, in a position they have no business being in.

I see you've taken more time to wonder into the realms of fantasy in that space ordinarily occupied by brain!

NO-ONE but NO-ONE so much as said or even suggested or hinted that was a technique to be employed.

    Bull-shit!

Make your mind up.... are you talking about barefoot trimmers or farriers???? Oh no you're talking bull shit!

Hint: Owners who are into barefoot trimmers don't call farriers!

Farriery is a physical job whereby if the farrier is injured then he's going to be out of commission.

The farrier by the nature of the work is put into a position of risk IF the horse is unwilling through lack of training or pain to be compliant.

I'm never going to begin to understand how your mind understands what is written but to keep it simple....

    You're making things up!

And incidentally I've had a yard of t/b's for over 40 years!

I'm a horse trainer and in the REAL equestrian world it's a trainers job to train horses and a farriers job to trim and shoe them. I'm thinking I've likely managed as many horses in my lifetime as the most experienced farrier and including remedial training and managing many spoilt horses.

The way I see it, you're just an anonymous and...(ray steele was here)............. who posts hiding behind a silly user name and no real persona!

Dear(ray steele was here to remove a word)

I don't manhandle horses to get the job done. I use gentle training methods. However, I am strong enough to get some things done that people who aren't as strong can't accomplish as easily. Like working with foot snatchers. I can generally hang onto hind feet on snatchy two year old that want to snatch or kick well enough that they just give up.

    Well bully for you!

Keep writing, someday you'll say something intelligent!

    Oh you nearly did.....

So you think you need loads of strength or just more strength than a woman or just technique and a modicum of physical fitness?

    Make your mind up!

I had a gal ask me if I was a horse whisperer once; I replied, "I whispered, 'I'm gonna kill you, you son of a bitch!" We had a good laugh.

I tell 'em I whisper if there's decent folks around who shouldn't hear that kind of language.

I learned long ago that there are only two things I'm really afraid of, Women and Police. I do however, seem to get along with Kim.
It's interesting the things your kids will do to rebel, I have two sons in law enforcement and a daughter who thinks she may get in too.

    Jack,
The way I approach it with my new age clients is to explain that I want to unite my spirit with the horse's spirit. I strive to create a psychic bond with each horse. Then I tell them that if, perchance, I can not attain this union, then I just beat the crap out of 'em.
