Except for Bruce's trim, this is , I think, the best trim I've had so far. I think this looks pretty good for 6 weeks. Except for that r/f toe. I would have trimmed it off but I promised my farrier that I would not touch these at all. He said he wants to see what the horse does with his trim.

How long before the next appointment? Feet look good for being about a week past due.

Why is it a week past due? It doesn't look that way to me.... I'd have said "soon due"

I think you understand the difference between maintenance and damage control.

I do indeed and I'd have said that between maintenance and damage control was a window of opportunity and I'm not seeing anything on that foot that looks like "a week past due". I'm seeing minimal growth and minimal wear. Also seeing something that looks like it may well benefit from shoeing IMO

Thanks, Jack. I would say yes, but you should ask David. :)

I have to go another week or so on the hooves since my work schedule changed. And I haven't ridden her all that much. Otherwise I think she'd have more wear.

As pictures can be deceiving, her heels look fine , hoof in hand. If they look too long, it's the camera shot.

Thomas, yes minimal wear. Didn't ride that much. The minimal growth may look that way because she was trimmed too short the last time. I can talk to him concerning that.

Thanks, everyone, I am pretty happy with this.

IMO, those feet would benefit immediately from better trimming and dressing and the crack isn't going to grow out with that much leverage pulling it apart. OTOH, if the horse is just a lawn ornament it could be left to go another month . . . just not on my watch.

As you should be. Relative to what you had, it's an improvement.

I'd have said he should change his tiresome record, wind his neck in and take a long walk off a short pier.

Thanks Jack, I quite like Thomas's views on things to. Now you have to promise to be nice to him and stop swearing!!!!! I have to say that some posters are letting there children log in, or that is how it would appear and we cant have them seeing the grown ups swearing.

David, it appears that your children can take care of themselves just fine - sign language and shoeing.

I agree. That toe isn't doing that crack any favors. She's almost due for a trim, not a better trim.
I have to wait till next week cause of work, but, I should go down there and clip that toe shorter and just save the piece for the farrier.

Forgive me for suggesting higher standards. I'm sure it's more than good enough for your horse.

Mary Ann, What's up with that. Tom is just saying what everyone else has said on this thread, even Karen. The message that she is just not getting is basically "if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten". Those feet are overdue for trimming.

Maybe if work schedules preclude getting them done when scheduled, get them done a week earlier. :) Sorry.

    Regards

Yes. This is for sure what you feel you do best.

Is this what your parents patted you on the head for?

Well then good boy Tom for trying to do them proud.

But from what I have seen and read - if you keep "working" like this you will just lack more in all you desire to seek - be it the praise of your parents or the false importance you feel you have risen to in your role on the internet. You do not become better at anything by trying to paint others as less than you (good "words to live by" in any endeavor).

    Think about it.

These posts of yours on this thread not only make you petty, they have no substance or usefullness. Even if they are your best attemps at humor, your humor falls flat cause your intent lacks integrity. Your intent on this and many other threads yells loud above your typed words.

Take a gander at the fruits of your labor. What good is coming from them? Nothing but bad taste from the bitter rotting flesh you keep yourself covered in. Shed that peel. Give the bird a taste. Enjoy the flight of freedom out the other end and set your roots deep in the dirt so you can grow big and be your own tree. Maybe then you can really cast a shading shadow and become a real influence on the net.

Till then, I would suggest it would be best for you to leave the spelling bee to Pat.

Better yet - you should apologise to Karen.

Rick - I love the way you smooth things over. I bet the feet you do are top notch. I tried to add you into my list of FAV farrier posters - but 50 characters is max!
