    Folks

It keeps coming up that Ray, (me) has to step up and be clear about what he wants, etc. . Well kinda like the contract we all signed when one 1st became a member, you know, the one that you most probably didn't read the rules that we promised to abide by,I know I didn't read it, I posted why I acquired this forum from Eric in the "It's Back" thread. I'm not typing that again,go read it each time you feel the need to ask.

Before I reopened this forum I had been speaking to a guy that had a forum that he had shut down and I asked why he shut it down, one of the reasons he told me was because of all the problems , that if he wanted to be yelled at all the time he would get a girlfriend, or words to that effect. Well I turned to my wife and asked if I could get a girlfriend, after she got done laughing at me she suggested I get a website if any would have me.

Now here we are, I have a great wife, a farriersforum and not only does my wife have additional fodder to laugh at me for but ......

I have written this in an attempt to not interrupt Davids thread of ,"what would make it better", and to suggest that those who keep harping about someone taking charge realize that your it! Your moderator,s need guidance also to give, you the forum that you want. Thanks to those who have offered advice. And it will require some self policing because ain't nobody getting paid to read thru and keep track of everything, hopefully those who are moderators will be thoughtful enough of themselves to have a life also.

    Regards

    Ray

To what are you agreeing, Kim? You can't be Ray's girlfriend, he already has a forum.

You know, with the exception of a frustrating night this week I haven't posted here in a while. The reason is simple- it doesn't seem to be possible to have a discussion about shoeing on this site without it becoming sidetracked with personality issues. Police ourselves? Well that seems a bit silly as everyone has their own idea as to the ideal format. Some people want to read the tabloids, others want the Wall Street Journal. The two don't really mix, and the Wall Street Journal can't police the audience of the tabloids.

Solution? Well, everyone gets to be the moderator of their own thread. That would solve a lot, but I doubt it is possible on a site like this. It IS possible on another site, and I post plenty of pictures of my cases here:

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/New-Bolton-Center-Farrier-Service/118767734894305

I can moderate the conversation, delete comments I find inappropriate and ban anyone I wish. If you read some of the comments there, I am not mandating that everyone agree with my ideas, but I do require that people state their position in a professional manner.

Who? You and Ray? There ought to be a new section created for that subject.

Seriously though, Gota hand it to Ray for putting up with this lot. It is appreciated.

No. But start your own Facebook business page and then you can moderate in what ever fashion you like. I would like to see some of your work.

    Pat,

when I read your post and saw Bloomers question, I thought it was all set, I was going to suggest that everyone go to your facebook page.post, have at it and you could moderate it, I could shut this down, you could have every ones happiness....... then I saw this answer.

    Next suggestion to every one,

go back to work and give David a few suggestions to help out on the ,make it better thread.

    Regards

    Ray,
You're missing the beauty of this- everyone is their own moderator. No complaints, everything cool. I ban who I choose, Karen bans hers chosen, Tom can post wherever he is allowed!

In all seriousness, I might just post new pictures on my Facebook account and post a link here. Then I don't have to worry about David or Ray or Jack or Tom or Karen- but I can still discuss farriery.

Did, done. Check out the link I posted, I think there are some interesting cases posted there. Let me know what you think!
I am certainly biased, but I would be willing to bet I have posted more useful information on my site than has been posted here in a month (by anyone not named Smitty).

I'm really not wanting to promote my business right now. I have a closed book. New clients only by veterinary referral.

But once I get my camera and digital darkroom setup I'll have some pictures for you - including some of a high tech composite saddle I working on with another farrier.

Tom, you can promote your business without taking on new clients. The business page on Facebook can be used for business conversations (like this site, which is a representation of your business), except you have complete control of the content (unlike this site).

You don't have to rub it in. Just so you know, the pay really sucks, and I have to give 10% to Bill Adams.
