    In my dreams!
This horse may not be the best, the video may not be the best. But there's something that always draws me back to this video-maybe it's the Johnny Cash music, maybe it's the one-armed rider. But I like it.
    And it's natural

Dana, I had no idea he was famous, or John Demetris had a name, now I have a lump in my throat and wet eyes.
Well, I'll have to put single footer/speed racking on my Bucket List. :)

Thanks for the memories Karen ..I did not know johnny cash coverd that song..or hank snow..I always thought it was a hank snow song..many years ago I was bad about rambling around and sleeping in the Shoeing rig and pluging into friends homes for a few days ..my style was to pack up and head out without notice and my friends would call me hank snow..

I haven't seen much of that sort of thing. Awesome horse. The still shots help you really appreciate the length of stride.
Gaited horses are rare over here. I've only seen some in a paddock once.

i had heard of john and falcon rowdy due to research i had done on my paso mare. one of the foundation stallions for the single-foot association is the paso stallion Coral LeCe.

i spelled that wrong. it should of been Coral LaCE which stood for George LaHood's Champion Equines. do you own a gaited horse, Mary Ann?

Yes. I am owned by 2. LOL One retired. The other is Holiday in my avatar. Love em both dearly. Neither is registered. Cane moved like a TWH. Holiday... well Holiday does a good mix of gaits. His best is in the walking type gaits - but he can not do it with speed. He does a sort of slow run walk/saddle rack the best. Has some nod, pulls with the front and pushes with the back. Like a power walk. But any speed will mess him up. He is a good affable horse.

Karen on the other hand has a bonafied gaited girl. She is a joy to watch and listen to her feet hit.

Speaking of the 4 beat, here is one of the best timed up rackers ever and one reason I think a Paso can be to to die for. He is of the lines you mentioned (I am no expert on breeding lines - just a total fan of all things gaited).

too many people see the "arab on crack" show paso and think they're all nuts. ughh . . . . they're a ball to ride! to my understanding, the single-footers are keeping at least one foot on the ground at all times, the paso is isochronal and is to have three on the floor at all times. when it's heard it's an even taca-taca-taca-taca. but some individuals when pushed "can" go into the single foot.

So, if they are not all nuts; care to explain the term "Brio" that is connect to the breed. All the ones, I have ever had to deal with, have been foul tempered ponies with an extreme "Napolean Complex".

I think Easy Gaited Horse" book states the true rack is a 2 1 2 1 foot fall. I will have to go look it up.

The thing that is worrisone for me about a Paso is their small stature - it equates to quickness. I like their "exhuberance" (sp) though.

SPeaking of rack and exhuberance and shoeing - this one is cool and in slow mo. The narrator explaines it well. ENjoy!

Definately know for the "Brio" Brian. but it's a controled Brio. yes, they're very sensitive, very reactive. i LOVE the energy. but handled wrong, they won't take it. makes them nuts. i've seen the show barns where every hour someone runs down their barn aisle with a metal rod banging on the stall bars to keep these horses "UP" at all times. pretty sad . . . .

I call my own mare the "DragonQueen"
An abuse case that has well earned her name. but when the farrier comes, i demand she behave and if he even starts to bend to reach for a hoof, it is already up off the ground and she is holding it up for him . . . no matter how many times he asks for it.

Amazing! you see that OVERREACH on that guy?!? whoa!

the pasos are small. my mare is only 14.2 with shoes on. but it sure doesn't feel like it when i ride her. i've had more than one person look at her headset or side-pull (no bit in her mouth) and they wonder how i control her. then they say, "well, you certainly don't gallop her!"

    LOL! of course i do!
my answer is always "you don't ride a horse off it's head. you ride them off your seat and leg." works for me!
