    John,

here and probably there ,there are fairly simple legal, non lynching, ways to handle it.

one is small claims court, you don't need a lawyer/solicitor, the offended pays a filing fee and shows up on the appointed day to state the case before the court, if your facts are in line, judgement is usually awarded along with court ordered restitution.

I seem to remember Tom Bloomer and a few others bringing this up ,I think on horseshoes a couple of years ago, if i remember correctly, Tom had gone so long that he felt the statute of limitations were gone by, i wonder if he had acted upon it if this would still be going on and if he had proceeded , i doubt that many others would have had this dilemma.

as to being "lynched over there" those who did the lynching would probably end up enjoying a 20 yr or more all expenses paid vacation in one of the fine Irish jails.

There are laws to handle these type of things, here and there and if you can remember that" the wheels of justice turn exceedingly slow but they grind exceedingly fine", it's just up to the individual offended to start the wheels even though it may put them out a little .

    regards

I believe I paid $95 for a two year subscription. If you were me, would you travel over 350 miles, spend the money on gas and lodging, plus fees to file a small claims suit to recoup $95? If I could file suit in in a Maine state court, it would have been done.

If anyone can send me contact information for the Mass Better Business Bureau, I would love to file a complaint with them. I would suggest that others could do the same.

On the old HS thread about this issue, we were informed that Ms Jurga had retained the services of a lawyer to represent her on this issue. I'm not sure what action was brought against her to cause her to do this, but my guess is that like me, most people decided that it just wasn't worth the money involved to pursue it.

The BBB complaint seems to be a reasonable course of action at minimum. And, get the word out regarding her practices.

What I would like most would be for her to refund my $95.

    Regards

    George,

sorry man those explanations don't fly.

If I remember correctly, some previous advertisements were worded in such a way that stated 4 issues per year, or 4 times a year,

going bankrupt is a little different than taking money without issuing product,i think i saw someone used 2003 as a reference,9 years that approx 36 issues give or take,

if the blog is in anyway meant to suffice the publication then the company should ask for voluntary donations vs offering issues.

this all said , individuals need to act to protect themselves, not just p/m on the internet or street corner.

    regards

    ray

    ps. I'm offering a farriersforum.com special,

Well George, I,too, was sucked into the vortex of Ms.Jurga's subscription for a magazine that has not managed to find it's way to my door (as of yet). I purchased a two year, eight issue subscription from her IN PERSON in 2003. She handed me a "current" issue at that time, smiled and said, "I hope you enjoy the rest". After never receiving anything further from her and having her repeatedly tell me that the next issue was "almost ready" on several occasions, I suspected I may have been duped. Confronting her face to face at the IHCS, her answer was, "you have access to the blog, don't you?" Sure I do, along with the other hundreds of people that didn't pay a dime..IT'S FREE!! I bought a magazine subscription, bot blog access. Wouldn't that be like paying my heating oil guy for a tank of oil and when he doesn't deliver it, he says, "you're getting your electricity, aren't you?"

So when you say, I don't like the terms of my deal.....I am/was fine with those terms...... she never came through... fact.... other than the magazine she handed me, I have never received another issue and doubt they exist...... so, George, if you would be so kind as to do myself and the rest of us on here that appear to have been sold something that doesn't exist for anyone but you a favor??? Seeing as you have "a bunch of them sitting in another room",(referring to issues of her magazine), could you be so kind as to lay them all out and take a photograph of them so we all can see the dates of publication and request any that the rest of us "subscribers" are missing? I'm sure the upstanding person you describe will want to quickly rectify the situation. My unfilled subscription is coming upon ten years and it will be great to let Fran bring it to current status. Assuming that you're a stand up guy, George and can produce them.

    Dave

oh Rick and Ray..thanks for the BBB link..I filed a complaint for what it's worth....

I'm in the same boat as everyone else here. That said, I just got a great deal on the AFJ. Limited time offer, one year subscription, 75% off, so, $17.00 for eight issues.

When it was published, I always enjoyed HC&L but I quickly learned to not hold my breath waiting for the next issue.

Rays very correct George.. nothing say four issues whenever I get to it... And in my area even if it did ... The law the way I see it says you have a reasonable amount of time to settle up debts and 9 years is not reasonable... On the other hand Ray I think the guys for P/M on the sites because my better half handles that kind of stuff for me ..she may order a mag or set up a clinic or what have ya for CE..then come to me and ask if I'm good with it.a bit back she came to me and said she was gonna order that mag if I wanted I looked at what it was and told her the story ..she called Bull shat..said no one would still be takin money for a mag that never comes...lol.. I told her I think she feels her blog is what u pay for and she called BS agian and said no let me read what it said... I just told her George said she and all you other guys are not understanding my better half said George is full of shit and she read what the stuff said and her and the others understanding just fine..lol.. but thanks guys for saving me 100 bucks and not have to listen to my better half raise hell when it never came..

She also seems to be a very nice lady in person. I first met her in the late 90's, through my wife who was a marketing rep for a feed company. I have wondered if there are TWO Fran Jurgas.:p
