I use my Jim Keith for side clips when needed. I do not put a toe clip on anything other than a draft..
1.5 lb ball pein in the field. Attempts with bob punch at home. Gary Hill - "I use my Jim Keith for side clips when needed. I do not put a toe clip on anything other than a draft.." Why not Gary?
What ever my hand happen to land on first...only if I don't have a pre clip on the truck..I have zero shame in a clip shoe..
In my custom I see no need at all for almost anytype clip. Clips help on poor shelly feet but luckily most feet I work on are in good shape.. I pull side clips on head horses because of the twist that put on the left front when heading a steer. Well placed nails do just as good in most situations around here.. and the toe clips just seem to encourage the hoof to chase the toe ? We have alot of grass this year appoised to last year with the drought effect. Now I am shoeing on more of a 5 week schedule as feet are growing like spring time? They will slow once we have a freeze that stunts the grass . With drafts , they are shod because they work on roads and they need borium , the toe clip helps alittle but I dont always pull a toe clip on all of them either, It Depends...
I am sure you don' t Smitty, I just feel they are unneccessary on horses here...most performance horses here work on dirt and not grass.. the ones that do work on grass like wheat pastures actually sometimes require caulks so the horses don't have there feet slip when they rope a large mother cow or a bull..
I dont trust myself to control myself IF I got that close.... Hey do you know John Ringling North III, he lives in Ireland and has a large ranch there. He owns Kelly-Miller Circus here .. ?
