Today's probably the last day I'll get to do some shop work, so I got my barshoe done. I'm not as good as most of you, but I gave it a shot. barshoe.jpg

Au Contraire, John. Depending on circumstances, I braze a bar in, arc weld a bar in, or build the shoe from bar stock and forge weld the bar.

I was playing around in the forge the other day and since I had a bit of scrap bar stock laying around, I built this one. Was experimenting with ways to fabricate a [slightly] full roller motion/banana bar shoe and this one was one of the attempts. I realize that there are lots of things that I could improve on, but if I'd had the appropriate hoof and I'd pritcheled the nail holes, it woulduv nailed for money......;)

That's why I put that stamp on the shoe. With our forging styles being so similar, I know people would have to look twice to tell it wasn't one of John's. :barefoot:

    stuff deleted

Be careful that welding and brazing a bar in will classify you as a "cowboy" according to some on this forum. If it don't come out of a forge you're really not much better than a hack from what I've gathered. ;)
