Another from Friday. She was due for new ones and this was the first set of fullered handmades I've nailed on.
well if George's Lynne Marie would put it on the forums; we could start a new thread "Linda in Pennsylvania"!!
I don't shoe a lot of hunters but have a few. I get forgetful about stocking the truck with aluminum shoes. Had to shoe a hunter pony the other day and before work I realized that I did not have any 00 aluminum shoes. So I had to make a pair. 8 x 3/8x1 aluminum.
Most Hunter Class ponies i used to put Aluminium in front but much lighter than 1x3/8 and they got a C/W behind
Thanks. I was worried about the wear plate but on another pair of aluminum I made for another horse I didn't use a wear plate either. They only had a tiny bit of wear on them. I am hoping, I have the same luck with these.
When I started shoeing him (cos I bought him!) in August he had just had to have 10 weeks without shoes as his feet were so rotten they wouldn't hold a nail.
On the RH I had five of the six nail hole areas bend EH 5 nails as if they were hitting rock. Moved up to CH 6 and had one of those do it, but the rest drove in. Bad nails? They worked fine in the other three hooves.
