Hello all, As some of you know, Bruce Matthews, now living in the Houston, Texas area, has had a congenital heart condition for some time. He was admitted to the hospital today for insertion of an IV port and an arterial catheter exam. Those procedures were planned and not an emergency situation. The IV port was installed and the arterial exam completed without complications. Bruce will be staying at the VA hospital in Houston awaiting surgery for an arterial bypass and a heart valve replacement. The intent is that the surgery will be performed tomorrow (Tuesday, March 27), although that has not yet been confirmed. Bruce's partner, Sharon, is with him and managing communication. I'll provide more information as it becomes available. Cheers, Mark
Directing fervert prayers for the Lord to guide his surgeon's hands. Bruce - I am looking forward to your speedy recovery and your continued blessed life!
Thanks a lot of keeping us posted. Take care Bruce, you are a valuable man!! Will be praying for you!!
Hello all, Bruce underwent heart surgery yesterday. The surgery included a triple bypass and replacement of the defective heart valve. There were some complications associated with bleeding around the heart but that seems to be under control as of last night. The surgery was described as successful and the current prognosis is good. Bruce was moved to the recovery room and pending no further complications will be moved into ICU (intensive care unit) in a day or two. Expectations are that Bruce will remain in the hospital under care/observation for 7 to 10 additional days. Sharon (Bruce's girlfriend) shared that Bucky Hatfield is keeping Bruce company at the hospital. Good on you Bucky!! I'll provide additional information as it becomes available. Cheers, Mark
Oh, boy . . . . kind of scary . . . any chance you could get an addy from sharon to send a card to? or is it on Bruce's profile?

Welcome to the other side Bruce! You did it!! Now there is more work for you to do to get your stamina back - but you will get there - just take time and be the prince. You've got to let that sternum heal and let your body wake up again. You are so gonna love how you will soon feel. Just take the time it takes and keep your eyes on your goals. Hugs!!!!! ANd high 5's!
Does anyone know if Bruce is accessing the internet? Anyway I'm pleased to hear he's making satisfactory progress.... he'll be relieved to have got the surgery out of the way.. if someone is passing on messages then pass on best wishes
Thomas, Bruce does have access via his iphone. Sharon indicated she would probably bring his laptop from home later. I'm guessing that will happen once he is moved from recovery/ICU into a regular room. Expectations are that he'll be in the hospital another week or so. Cheers, Mark
In that case I'll addressBruce directly. Bruce, Did you hear about the man lying in a hospital bed with an oxygen mask over his mouth. A young nurse enters his room to sponge his face and hands. "Nurse," he mumbles from behind the mask, "Are my testicles black?" Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know Mr. Matthews, I'm only here to wash your face and hands." He struggles again to ask, "Nurse, are my testicles black?" Again the nurse replies, "I can't tell. I'm only here to wash your face and hands." The head nurse walks by and sees the man getting a little distraught, so she walks over to find out what's wrong. "Nurse," he mumbles, "are my testicles black?" Finally, she pulls back the covers, raises his gown, holds his penis in one hand and his testicles in her other hand and takes a close look, and says "There is nothing wrong with them!" Finally, the man pulls off his oxygen mask and replies, "That was very nice but, are... my... test... results... back?
