Profesional behaviour.

    I dont know the site appropiated for this.

    Today is a great holliday here at Spain. Like Christmas or your July 4...

    A owner call me yesterday.She's desesperated.Her horse is lame. Today, 8 morning, I was there.The horse continues lame,but She's quiet and not desesperated.

    I don't charge nothing.She's a old client.
    This is one of reasons because many farriers has much good and profitable work,while anothers farriers are shipwrecked in the crisis.

    Any experience about this one?

    Horses aren't like a car or a computer - you can't just turn them off. Today is also a holiday here in Denmark. If I had a customer call with a bad problem, yes I would go. If is was someone who just hadn't planned a head for shoeing then they can wait. There is also a time to give back a little to those who pay our bills. Last week I was to a customer who had her 50th birthday. I trimmed her horse for free that day.

    It goes with the territory.... no time off for good behaviour for vets, farriers, doctors, etc etc etc etc... heck even horse trainers get to work every day! Even if it's just to do a body count and check they're all still standing and eating!

    i shoe at weekends and maybe take a day off midweek , most of my clients work , as i see it they earn their money and i need it, so i do my best to work around their agenda .

    Yesterday a customer contacted me to tell me a new horse she had in had lost a shoe and she wanted to jump it in a competition this weekend. Was I in the area? I drove about an hour to put the shoe on for her (even though I hadn't shod the horse) and what I charged her barely covered fuel. But she's a good customer and it's worth the effort in goodwill.
    I worked today (Bank Holiday) because it fitted in with this particular customers regime.
    I work on the principle that if you look after your customers, they will look after you.

    Never take for granted the value of having a great professional network.
