    I had no foot to make one for but tried to make one to set measurements this morning, 7/8 3/8 light section so easier keep sweet as well, and worked out ok but the bar was 1/2 inch short I've now realised I was forgetting to add a bit for the frog plate :whistle:

    I don't get why he would make a bar that looks exactly like it was made from a rasp instead of just using a rasp.

    No Tom the bar is a Rasp
    but the shoe is hammer finished
    just my Irish wit saying to Eric he never used a rasp (hammer finished)

    Well it would be really difficult to do a rasp finish after you forge welded the rasp to the shoe. :confused:

    It's a horseshoe with a frog plate jumped on. Flux the shoe and welding plate, bring them up to welding temp, stick them together.

    The tricky part is knowing how much your shoe is going to spread from welding and keeping it clean.
