I think that yours (so glad you started posting pics) is a good perimeter fit shot. Can't evaluate much more from the one view.

I "personally" have never left and then fit to that much distortion. You can get by with, or do what works for you though. The foot is a reflection of the forces applied to it. It is our job to understand those forces.

You referring to that for in particular our both feet?

What's worse -
a flare dressed as much as possible and still maintains structural integrity with a shoe fit so as not to increase forces to other parts of the hoof capsule?

or a flare over dressed so that area of the hoof capsule has no structural integrity.

I don't smitty. He's a regular one for me and grows foot like crazy. . .could do four weeks in the summer instead of five. Every now and then the inside gets weak and breaks up.

You have any criticisms of the job?

it's what we call a "wry" foot.........you'll never get them totally balanced; could have to do with conformation or how the foot developed in utero? not sure...

dont like the fit (toe)

I hate to dress off any more then i have to but if that section of hoof wall was busted clean off i would float it without any worrys and it woul probobly grow back with less distorshion . I wonder if there is much difference ?

There is already zero structural integrity in those quarters irregardless of dressing or not.

Josh, I would suggest looking closer at your trim, a frog support pad to offload those quarters, and looking at clip placement (IMO, they are too forward and all of your distortion is rearward of them), until you get a tighter connection.

Josh, could it be that the hocks are bothering this horse.
I had a horse just like this; and as soon as the hocks were injected and chiro came out
the horses hooves improved in the back; when the hocks weren't sore any more.
just a suggestion; since I was not there and don't know what you had to deal with.

josh for me the toe in your shoe is to tight
clips are in the wrong place
putting the hole job out of wack

That's broader than his toe and set back about half thickness of the wall. You'd broaden it more and set it further back off the toe?.?.

Next time I do this guy I'll take pics with shoes on/off and after trimmed too
