In all reailty bits and pc of everyone's post has validated points.. I agree with smitty and Patty ..I'm not fond of clip placement but it can be fixed..I agree with Eric. Rasp flairs does not do much ..but as stated by Patty those walls ain't got much going for it and ain't doing much..I would guess its hollow in there.. and I really think Justin has a whole lot common sense and merrit in his..there seems to be more going on that needs a deeper look... It's been my experience a guy Shoeing a pile of horses and his got the whole lot going like he likes it..they working and doing fine.. then up jumps one that's getting away from ya ..it don't add up josh ain't Shoeing 99% to do fine then he falls to pc ne this one horse.. so its time to start asking looking around for answers..that's what the good ones do..just like josh did... The don't cares just keep plugging along....but hey maybe me and joshare the only two sob of farriers that had a few get way from us..it happens to all of us..if you say it don't then you ain't got the damn sence to see it or tell the difference..
Thanks, Travis. Wouldn't it be cool if it were that way? If we had a place we could go to for advice or help.... Only problem is that all of this started without Josh saying anything other than stock demensions when he posted the originals..... like nothing was amiss. He didn't ask for advice or help. I stepped up and opened my big mouth to help and have regretted it ever since.
To be honest I thought I'd done a fair job. . .till I looked at the pics, especially the rh. I like the criticism. . .makes you look at your work closer, however I don't take easily to criticism from anyone who I have no idea what their work looks like or someone who hasn't posted any work to be scrutinized, yet jumps all over someone elses work. I agree pictures do tell a whole diff story... I always find fault in my work looking at pics..my hats off to those that make hand mades everyday and esp at the horse because when I try it I get to wrapped up in making the shoe and how they look..trying to make sure every little detail ..then I get home and looking at the pics and think man if I had spent that time monkeying around with that handmade I more than likely would have caught those things on the horse... But I'm not good at makeing shoes like all you guys..i do apologize I did not realize opinions where not ask for and things where going as planned..if it ain't broke don't fix it ..
Oh heck yea that was a good job..the shape of that shoe was spot on and matching the foot pretty much perfect..clips where sweet.. shoes where wall hanger kind.. anytime you can achieve what you went for is a good day in my book..
Your March photos at least show why you focus so much attention to the back half of the foot. If you skip fitting the front half of the foot and unload the hoof at the toe / toe quarters and load the back half of the hoof, which is much weaker than the front half, then I can understand why all of your March photos show the foot packed with something to try to prevent the back half of the foot from collapsing. Unfortunately, every time I hear someone only focusing on the back half of the foot and adding frog/sole support, I know how they're fitting the shoes without looking at it.
what I am upset is that the pics where of the hoof/shoe job.........not on conformation on the horse.....that could have told a different story of the whole story..................and as a side note: if the owners aren't going to have their horse looked over by a vet, ect.....then we are bound by shoeing to the best we can with what we have to work with. ps. still look at the hocks.
how would you shoe the horse with this kind of defect? I am not sure how I would proceed; but a barshoe would be something I would consider....????? maybe???
Shod the horse for years with 22 x 10 open heeled shoe. The crack would grow down/out, then pop again. There was no laminae attachment to the bone because there was no bone to attach to, so there was no pain/blood. Distortions are caused by many different things; some by god, some by men/women and sometime sh!t happens
Whenever I show up always ask how the horse has been doing. Nothing is ever said so I go about my business. Can't recommend anything to a client that likely wouldn't pay for it anyways. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

I assumed Gene Overnick given Patty's style of shoeing but it looks really like the guy whos video we were all laughing at a few months ago Ive tried searching but cant find the thread now or think of his name.
