Ray, whatever happened to this. I thought it was a good idea - kinda like putting real degrees on a wedge pad rather than #2 which is meaningless as is size 2 or 5 or whatever. Guess the industry just prefers to baffle with BS rather than have a meaningful standard.
It would be misleading and be just as meaningless. You could list the angle of the pad in degrees but then most people will assume it will actually increase the hoof angle by that amount. On a smaller hoof the angle will increase to a greater percent than it will on a larger hoof, so it would still be a number that doesn't correlate to the actual angle increase.
Sorry, Alicia, but you've lost me, an angle is an angle. Sure if I raise a heel by say a quarter inch a small foot will see more angle increase than a large foot, but if I cut a 3 degree wedge to fit that foot, it's still 3 degrees. My complaint there was that most numbered wedgea are about twice as many degrees as the number. At any rate my question was about the FIA shoe sizing i.e. the outer circumference of the shoe where a normal 0 plain would be a 13. Makes more sense to me than say a Billy Crothers concave 5 that is about an American 0. Or do it in cm, but have a size that relates to a measurement on the shoe.
Memorization of both Jack helped me in France ; Chantilly, at Mark Kerchart's place, with a lame endurance horse. If i had not memorized the measurements in previous years, I wouldn't have had the only U.S. horse to finish. Circa 2001.
