if you don't; they find someone else to take over shoeing for them......believe me they ask; because they really want the shoes on.
I find its just the opposite ..they wanna save a few bucks for one..second show hunters norm want the horse light as poss like they often want alum but barefoot is even lighter..but most are looking to cut the price down..only unlike hoofters they not will to go bare and watch horse limp..
too many times I said......your horse is fine without shoes/ guess what......3 weeks later call me to cancel they found someone to shoe the horse. So I shoe the damn bloody horse and leave it at that.
I cant believe you could loose a customer that easily, why dont they just ring you to come back and put the shoes back.

Went to a rodeo this Weekend , its been awhile since ive gotten to go to one, so I was sitting back enjoying the show. A local woman sang the National Anthem , and it turned out to be one of our Local Farriers, there was a man sitting behind me , (note he was not a small man more like 6' something) . He started in on "Woman Farriers" how you have to watch them and they dont have the strength to shape a shoe ,let alone pound a nail , and how there bad ,... about this time id heard enough . I turned around looked him straight in the eye and said " I Shoe Horses." He started to stutter and back pedal , oh he says "I meant bad ,..like in Kick my butt bad ,woman farriers and awesome , ohh i USED to be a farrier."stutter... stutter.. grovel ... Grrr I turned around went back to Mike's Hard lemonade and enjoyed the rodeo . It just erked me for some reason.
What gets me is she said 98% dont even she hot much less hand mades...just so happen sge finds the shoes of that one guy..now wanting to say shape off and shoe racked...
I just think Linda wants to get more involved and in doing so she looses the run of herself not the worst thing in the world if more people showed a bit of there work and got involved it might be a better place to be
I can go along with that john.. I been guilty of speaking out of turn on someothers shoes or shoe job..but as the times goes on I realized I was wrong in doing that..posting someones work is not help ourself in that context..
Well I spoke out of turn as I'm not at a level to be commenting on someone else's work. However I thought it might bring about more discussion.
I guess it is just me, but when I build a handmade shoe it is for "that hoof" at that time...kegs sometimes just don't fit the bill...I like to place nail holes where the hoof needs it instead of charting the shoe and measureing if both nails are lined up with the ones on the other side...? I suppose hoof shapes are abit different than other places? Now it might only take a few resets and then I can go back to a keg or a "pretty shoe" but you can bet that the hoof capsule has changed some to do it..
