here you go Smitty, clips you asked for. OTTB hinds with heels extended a little bit to protect heel bulbs in the back from the running down he took that the track; and no heels, thin-walled, clips not burned in as he was cold shod as he wouldn't stand still for a moment to get shoes on let alone get a picture with out running me over.
Just so Smitty doesn't get bored. One from today, done cold. ( Would have needed the fire dept on speed dial before I walked into that barn with a hot shoe ), Regards
Remember this one? Well I actually got round to shoeing it today... in fact, they asked me if it would be ok to play in a 3 day polo tournament or would it be better for it to be shod first. I didn't have anything in the van in its size so I made some out of 5/8 x 3/8, not something I do very often...
we can't Smitty bored now, so here's a OTTB with heels and a plater who did a good job; and this horse is way over due!!! he was put into wide web aluminums.
I was completely exhausted when I shod her. I know about the flair to the inside. Smitty I still went out and worked in the forge tonite ; but I am dog tired now.
Grade 2 club (RF) footed yearling from this morn, he had just pulled the RF on the walker and half the foot with it but I'm very happy with how its growing now with the banana shoe on.
Ive tried a number of different ways of dealin with club feet and the banana has had the best results. For a while I just rockered from the apex forward but the banana shoe seems to keep these feet healthiest. I have got a number of horses back racing by using one of the above set ups where with previous flat shoeing they got mechanical laminitis.
We will never know for sure if it is the mechanics of the shoeing or the added potassium from the banana . . .
It looks a though you're able to trim the heels down to healthier horn too. Do you usually use the wedge pad in there too? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Can't tell very well by the pic but are you trimming the foot flat our building the banana into it? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
