Does anybody use one of these .. The single burner forgemaster ? I'm using an nc tool whisper mama now and am interested in the forgemaster E 1 .. Pros or cons ?? Sent from my phone
I do and mine works well. Welds just fine. Well mine is a single burner Forgemaster, don't know exact model number.
Looks like there are two models the E1 and the Excalibur the excalibur has a self closing door .. Sent from my phone
They are "Loud" w/o a door. I have one that I used to ship with the horses going to Europe and the middle east years ago. In France one year I had to cut the regulator off the hose and attach directly to a "Russian" propane bottle. I regulated by hand.......
The NC models are good starters. A Forge Master Stainless.....yep it costs.... but ya don't have watch the "ports" rust out JME'S
All the guys around here doing competitions use the two or three burner forgemasters. I still use my old whisper mama.
is your whisper mama a good forge? in making handmades, I am on a baby whisper and make handmades; but it doesn't heat up enough to weld a barshoe for the most part and is slow to heat up stock when time is involved ; the only thing wrong with it.
Linda if it does not heat up the iron it aint much good now I don't think you would be tackling the big stuff so I would get rid of it
Was at a hammer-in a while back 3 of us there. 1st guy had a pro forge, 2nd a double burner NC, and I have the forgemaster blacksmith. We made a set of pitching horseshoes out of 1/2x1. I was putting my steel in for my 2nd heat and the other 2 guys were still trying to get there steel hot for there first heat.
I dont have any trouble making bar shoes in mine. It is an older forge without the insulated door so I lose heat there bit thats never been a problem. Also no trouble to fit in a pair of draft shoes either.
Even without an insulated door, the plate/uninsulated door on the Whisper Momma forge I used to use was a great help. It dept most of the heat relatively contained and made it much easier and quicker to get the forge 'up to heat' and to weld in it. When I welded in it, I put a thin piece of fire brick in it because otherwise the flux and slag really ate up the lining on the bottom of the forge. Been using a Pro Forge for years now and don't seem to have that problem with the liner. And the forge gets hot, hot, hot without having to crank the pressure way up.
most of the lads I know that have app making shoes everyday use a Competitor they would making 35/45 pairs a day
I use a single burner Forgemaster quite often. When I find I need more heat, I turn on the other burner.
