Actually Lauren, some of my best friends are women Farriers. Women Farriers have rhythm, and make good athletes.
Lauren WTF is a female farrier , in my book a farrier is a farrier is a farrier although some of us tend to be better looking
takes a lot of sweat and tears Tom lol , how you doing mate ?, no banter for a while , i am missing it
Is there anyone who can tell me if a forging certificate is needed to join the army as Im supposed to be going to college next year to do that but if its not needed I want to join the army asap and work as much as I can to put money aside
I think your asking questions in the wrong place, I am sure the army recruitment recruitment department has people who would answer your questions more accurately as requirements and such probably change every few years as with everything.
Lauren, listen. When you join the army, you do so as a soldier. You may not get near the forge for many years. so, the forging cert may not have any relevance. I You have to ask yourself 2 questions. 1- do i want to join the army and then specialise as a farrier or 2- do i want to enrol onto a civilian farrier course/apprenticeship in the UK. the system allows you to undertake a training syllabus which treats males and females the same. Same exam requirements, same tools, same horses, same hours, same tax band.................................................................... There are no speedy courses or easy routes. think about what you want to do and then jump in and experience it. You can then say that you have tried it. I have given you the website links to both question 1 and question 2. We can not guide you any more than that. Your young and you have many years to find your path, you may change your career choice. try things. regards
It doesn't matter if you are man or a woman; it is the love of the shoeing horses and the willingness to learn the trade; and the love of forging and making handforged shoes on the anvil for the horse and the shear love for this lifestyle.
