    Jacob,

the support that I use is made of a neoprene/wet suit material with a foam pad in back and velcro fastener. it seems to keep the base of my back warm to the point that i will sweat in that ares even on a 30 degree(f) day. A couple times i tried doing a quick trim without it and had spasms within an hour. I don t think it braces anything but it does keep the problem area warm.
A customer made me several 20 years ago when I had trouble while shoeing her horse, so i don t have a brand.

I dont have a brand either. The one I use is just one of the cheap white elastic ones with a foam pad in the back a flexible rods that are supposed to help keep your back straight

Thanks guys. Anyone used the silverback chaps? They are supposed to have a built in back brace of sorts. There probably a little pricey for me but if they really did give you some support I could get intersted. I don't have have any back pains but I don't want to have any either.

I suppose having to shoe 10 head aday is what it takes to care for the apps that you have? I had a person ask to ride along so they could learn from me, and I told them to pay me $75,000 and I will teach them everything I know..
Only times I have had to shoe at least 10 head in one day was when I was at the base in Gitmo Bay Cuba and when I went to far south Texas one weekend when it took me a day to drive, a day to shoe 10 head and a day to drive home...was a nice $2,000 day or three..

I use the stand on the fronts, also don't like it on the hinds.

And the cradle just seems as awkward as a chow on a bike to me.

Well I have been experiencing some health isues I haven't had for a long time. I feel great. I've lost about 45 pounds over the last couple of years and a couple of months ago, my daughter gave me some pills that are supposed to make your liver start producing some enzymes that normally stop working when you're in your twenty's.
The pills have made it so I quit eating Ibuprofen, and I can walk with out a limp after a hard day on concrete. My shoulders have stopped popping when I lift my arms over my head, and I feel better all over. I'm scheduling an extra horse or two and can work faster if necessary with out feeling like I'm gona die.
My back has been about the only thing I have on my ol' body that hasn't had any problems over the years. Get's sore once in a while, but before I started this trade, I would pay money to go to a gym and get sore. Now I get payed to get sore.

I've never had back problems (If you want to raise little farriers, my stud fee is reasonable), but Ray's comment about warmth brings to mind a friend who seemed to have wintertime back problems (spasms). He generally wore a short jacket to work in and it would ride up, exposing his lower back to the cold. Switching to insulated coveralls in cold weather solved his problem.
