Yes, thinking on the Forgemaster with the 3 burner; but I need to know how long it takes to cool down???~~~~~~ before packing up and putting it back into my truck for safety reasons. Guys??? my baby whisper only takes 20 mins for a cool down; before I head on out to my next farm.~~~~~~~~ But like you say, `1 burner, doesn't heat up to forge weld for a barshoe; or anything else; not good for handforge ina regular visit, let alone going to a competition. Last competition at least it was a local novices, we had 1 hour to make a pair; and it took that much for me; but the others using a pro-forge or others; were on ahead of me on their stock heating up faster.

Mount it on a swing out or pull out. I've got mine on some heavy duty drawer runners and just push it back and take off no matter how hot it still is. But I've got a small van, lots of guys here just mount it straight on to their ute tray.
wouldn't the heat from the forge that hot; effect the propane in a 3 ft area in a close cap.............heat the propane in the tank; making it explode? or a fire hazzard.......is what I am trying to get to. I cool off the forge for 20 mins before I take off to next farm when hot shoeing; plating and aluminum shoeing is different; or if I make my shoes the night before; and then shoe the horse afterwards.
It's not a problem IME,,, nobody I know has blown up yet. However IMO you want some separation between the fire and the tank. In my little van there is a wall and shoe rack in between... the tank would get no heat at all. I use my whisper mamma and it does the job for me. I have no problems welding if needed. I don't see myself changing unless someone wanted to buy me another one.
did get a weld to hold on a block and sticker with toe grab yesterday, finally don't like the ironmountain in the plating....the weld is ok.
Depends on what you're doing, how you work, how hot you want it. The only thing I wish is if it had a way to use only 1 burner if I wanted.
Yea, I guess I can probably get one figured out. Will give it a shot this fall after things slow down a bit and can afford the time.
I know this is an old post but just acquired an E 1. It has an igniter with a spark plug . New spark plug and everything seems in tact but doesn't work? Also, it really sputters starting out but after several minutes it's roaring. It slightly smokes out the top where the burner is. Are these characteristics common and it there a trick to the igniter? I have the Forgemaster blacksmith model. I had the same trouble with ignition when I got it. I pulled the plug and played with the gap till I got a good one. Be very careful, they are easy to cross thread. On the sputtering, you have to get reeeeeealy good at how far you turn the brass gas knob. Less is better on starting IMHO, then you can turn it up. I usually just end up blowing into the back of the venturi. Regards
The other peeve I have with them is that the door liner tends to get loose and fall out, and get shredded putting it in and out. I welded a frame onto my door to keep it in. Other than that it is a great forge. Regards
I have a Forgemaster. I light it w/ a BBQ lighter. Added long screws around door to hold in liner, same as my NC. Runs best after warmed up. Burns a lot of propane. Forgemaster is my shop forge and NC is in my van.
