Off side hind, toe clip with trailer using a piece of 25 x 10mm, 31 cm long. I want it punched for E5 slim, three holes per branch. When posting pics: One from top and one from bottom with nails in place to show the proper pitch was obtained. Also I would like one pic from the side so I can see how much head is above the ground face of the shoe and the toe clip. I'm blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, so please don't make the pics too small!!! One entry per person,
Has it to be fullered, plain stamped, or concave? how big do you want a trailer? Do you want a ball pein, cross pein or bob punch clip?
I will make a thread for the photos. This thread will be for questions. A view like this will let me see both nail fit angle and toe clip.
This is what I like for nail depth. I use Liberty nails. They have a bevel on the head. I try to depth my nails so from the bevel up is on top.
I want to width of the trailer the same as the width of the shoe. Length "this one" is 2cm, which I feel is ok. As I stated, you can pull a clip anyway you want, I bobbed this one.I hope all of you keep in mind I'm not the best shoe maker and this is the first time I've ever judged anything. So if you want, give it a go, I am.
Qustion mikel, do you want the fullering as you have it? and the inside heel lenth as you have it? and is that trailer square at the end?
Like I said John, you're ten times the shoe maker I'll ever be, but for me, I could have easily have laid out the details of what I want, but the military in my took over - "never ask your men to do something you cannot, have not, or will not do yourself", so I had a go and came out with a shoe I figured I could safely nail on. If I'm going to judge, then I should lead, probably not the best, but at least I had a go at it.
My shoe is not much good if the judge dont like it I will try make as near as the specimen as I can there are better shoe makers on this forum than me imo.
Smitty, Here's a better pic of the trailer from hoof side. The line is from (top) A down to B. "A" is the inside of the branch, so you can see there is a square to it. View attachment 5571
Specimen shoes go a long way to clear up any confusion. It gives me something to print out and put on the shop wall While I make mine.
