My mentor Al Pinson, got us 7 nailing hinds also...lateral wall is alot of time kinda weak I suppose is why??
David i know over there 3/4x 7/16 is widley used i always wonderd why they go with that section on small feet do you run with this section on your polos or do you mix it with some 3/4 x 3/8 on the 11" to 12" feet and how often do you shoe the polos i have 18 to do on tuesday
John thanks for comments, Yep its a traditional hunter nail and fit. It wears out the shoes quite quick, it would be through 3/4 3/8 in 3 weeks and doestn have the wall for 7/8. In the apprentice ship the lads have to gather evidence of them making and fitting different types of shoes. John I use mainly 3/4 3/8 on the polo ponys as the extra metal keeps the feet together better. If they want lighter shoes then 3/4 /5/16 or the kerk polo plates. with the kerk plates you need to reshoe on 4 weeks but decent concave I go 5 weeks which is favorite because you have something to cut off. Are they staying in Ireland or coming to the UK?
David there over here competing we done 12 the first time and now 5/6 weeks later they have 6 more to do. there all around the 5" to 5 1/4" size
Yep I use 3/4 3/8 on them but the high goal boys want lighter. I love shoeing them, its not hard work and they appreciate a good job, manily because farriers in the uk think its ok to throw the shoes on as quick as they can. Some of the 3/4 3/8 is quite light, Billy's section is thin and so is Richard Ash, Richard Ash puts in the screw hole ready which saves on time a bit.

I cut a lot of corners when I make shoes in my truck. Most of my swing goes into making my truck bounce up and down. And my anvil is a foot away from the wall so heels and clips get to be a problem. I have one punch, pritchel, and fuller in the truck right now. If I'm gonna use a bigger nail I need to remember to bring it out hot repunch it.
It is what it is smitty. I already dedicate almost an entire heat just to get a1/2 inch into the toe. It wouldn't make sense to dedicate an entire heat to everything every step is the way.
