I use whatever nails I have on the truck. The shank would be long enough that I could get the desired clench length and width. Whatever head is on that shank is the nail I'm going to use. I prefer city head in smaller shoes and E in bigger ones. I don't measure feet.
JPT i have not learnt the trade , i am still learning , i starting learning in the royal army veterinary corps and then did my civvy appreticeship with Bert Flatters FWCF , every day i learn something new . i thought your post would have been more appropriate on the farrier threads though not the horse owners discussion board
I'm sorry chris i didn't even know the difference its just that it was a place where i could fit in.............. Read my post to Eric~~~~~~
Thomas, you don't need to see my crendentials, because i know the answer,do you? So what difference would it make to a guy who doesn't know the difference to begin with? My credentials are below my name if you must know?
Ya know eric,Ya know what hurts me deeply about farriers talk? Is that you are suppose to have a CJF and you don't know the answer? Eric, you don't measure feet and nobody else does either> So if somebody says you should measure feet everybody who doesn't will fight for their way is best....................For as much as i thought of you i would like to kick your ass...............
That's ok. I'm not interested in your ideas on what nail to use when. I could use an ass kicking if you're ever in my area though.
JPT i measure feet to determine what steel i need, i dont measure toe length because its irrelevant on what i believe is a correctly dressed and balanced foot
really small shoe - really small nail small shoe - small nail quite small shoe - quite small nail medium shoe - medium nail quite large shoe - quite large nail large shoe - large nail really large shoe - really large nail --------------------------------------- really small nail - E2 small nail - E3 quite small nail - E4 medium nail - E5 quite large nail - E6 large nail - E7 really large nail - E8
So the balance is, in the green corner, maintaining the capsule strength. In the red corner removing horn that has started to steer the foot growth. In the blue corner how high is to high with the removal of horn. And in the pink corner how do you make it all look pretty. Just a recap for those who dont feel like reading the hole thread that involves some hair pulling and biting from a couple of the children.
Talking Shit!!!!! again Eric making out like you know me & what horses I shoe . I Shoe all types of horses & pony's. I've Shod Mules donkeys & have even shod bullocks. Your ambition of being a first class world class farrier will be thwarted by your attitude. Who would want to share anything of value with you ?. Not me that's for sure.
