One from today, driving horse. Medial crack had been bleeding. Accidently erased some of the after picks so just have the one. Got barshoes, equipack, and spectra cloth wrapped heel to heel.

Did you put drains under the spectra cloth? Straight or egg bars?

No drain, horse lives in the mud. Straightbars

How long ago did it stop bleeding before you covered it up?

Funny!!! First time seeing the horse. It was 3 cracks not 2. Look closely at the first pic there is another crack about center of the foot. It felt like there was a sidebone in the middle of the two cracks on the lateral side.

If it was the first time , Why cover them up with out any drains ? Are you not to worried about further bleeding ?
    and why a strait bar?
...sorry for all the questions , just trying to understand your thinking

This horse is out in the mud and manure all the time, I felt the drains would end up trapping bacteria and cause more problems. I also requested the horse not be used for the week prior so it would heal up some. It only bled when the horse was driven long distances.

I'm a little concerned about bleeding but I think it will be alright, only time will tell.

Your probably thinking why not a heartbar. #1 I have never put a heartbar on and don't feel comfortable doing so without some help(the reason I have never put one on). #2 This horse is an Amish buggy horse going down gravel and blacktop roads I would be really concerned about a horse going 20 MPH stepping on a rock and bending the frogplate into the frog. Hopefully the straight bar will keep the foot from flexing along with the sprectra cloth and glue.

I cut my teeth on Amish buggy horses...LOL ...I live in Pa about a hour from Lancaster I would of done the heartbar . I used them before on road horses with no problems. Either you want positive pressure or negative pressure on a horse like this I would use negative pressure and floated the heels left the cracks unglued and told them to use another horse to go town.
I understand why you didn't use them , Bob Skradzio favorite saying was "When in doubt ...DON'T "
good luck with the horse and keep posting your work and pics.
