Oh and BTW - the only reason I ever posted on this board is cause it was open to it. It is OK if you prefer not to have non farriers post - just leave me some "Like" and "High Five" buttons.

This forum was set up with the idea of making it more open and friendly than the other. I just can't understand why farriers registered, and now are unhappy because it isn't their way.
Have a vote, lock the forum, whatever. But I don't think that "owners seen but not heard", or "owners will be heavily restricted" is not a choice.

    Like I said!!!:ROFLMAO::p

I don't go there enough to know who posts there, usually only when someone links a thread. But when I go there I don't see to many who know which way is up.

Eric also shut the place down too.

I have voiced my opinion on what I would think would make it better, it already has rules those rules should be followed. Any posts that break the rules should be moderated. I'm sorry that you guys feel you are being excluded if you are not allowed in the farriers section. I always felt that the special treatment was wrong over on HS. This trimmer is allowed to post but this one is not or this owner is allowed to post but this one is not, who the hell decides if someone is better than the other. It seems easier to me to have a farrier and owners section then nobody will get there feelings hurt, pretty simple.

Tom said: ....Mostly we post to counter the disinformation put out there by the pretenders and BUA....

Well maybe some of us have a higher standard than others about where they get their info from. And I have to say it's a tough job to counter all that disinformation-then see the advice seeker go with the one who knows nothing about shoeing.

Karen, I think the unfriendly part of the other forum had to do with the user interface being very "user unfriendly" after the upgrade. Farriers came here because the software is very easy to learn - user friendly. If the other site hadn't done the "upgrade" this one would never have started - BTW it was my idea to start this site, but I didn't want to manage it. So Eric decided to do it himself. My original idea was to pretty much duplicate the best parts of the old horseshoes.com as it was prior to Baron selling it. Eric seemed to want something a little different, but still didn't want the hassle of managing a site.

That's why we handle that site in shifts. All very organized and clandestine. Also, Rick and I argue, quibble, and poke fun at Patty once in a while just so people think we're not on the same side.

I think this was made into a mountain out of a mole hill. We are not talking about trimmers and BUA's and them potentially giving advice. We side with farriers on that one.

I know that I joined as a member here because this was meant to be a more casual, friendly atmosphere for farriers and owners, where an owner may ask a question or have a comment and post it in the farrier area, and not have farriers flip out about it. It was not going to be another ole boys club.

If this is not how it's going to be, then I wouldn't even want to be a member/supporter here. I'm really tired of the attitudes of some here, and it's really not worth arguing about anymore.
I've made quite a few good friends here, farriers that would have liked to see this model of Eric's succeed, and were not threatened by a non-farrier moderator. Whether here or not, I know how to find them.

Eric, many many farriers here agreed with the way you wanted it here. Those who didn't should have opened their own darn forum.

Ihope you all can decide what you want. And those who don't agree can leave.

Prove it. List the names of all the farriers that wanted owners posting in the farrier section.

I am certainly not going to make waves amongst farriers. And I am certainly not going to break any confidences.

No really. Confidences are life and death to me---unless someone screws with me, and that may include hair pulling and nail biting and auctioning off someone's anvil on ebay.

I don't mind Karen posting, my objection is barefooters providing advice in the farrier section. I gained a tremendous amount of respect for Karen when I viewed a name Travis Morgan called her before it was deleted. Nobody should be treated like that, period. I think Travis should be banned for that post, but it was just deleted.

No woman should be disrespected in that manner, and I was offended just reading it.

Most certainly not. I love horse owners. Horse owners pay for my vacations. There is plenty of room in the appropriate sections.

Ok, fair enough. Lets try it this way; Were there more than ten Farriers who said they wanted horse owners regularly posting in a Farriers Forum. Less than ten?

And you've got to buy into the idea that said farriers came to this site and signed up BECAUSE horse owners would be posting in the farrier section - that being their reason for dissatisfaction with horseshoes.com instead of the changes to the user interface. And that said farriers want that reason kept secret (except for Karen) and not generally known to other farriers on this forum. At which point the conclusion should be that this is a forum where farriers come to hang our with horse owners exchanging confidential information about their preferences in forums.

    Check.

Yea. It was pretty clear that you were supposed to be moderating the owner section.

Then Eric made it a free for all by saying he thought anybody could post anywhere they wanted. Which is perfectly fine if you want a free for all, but don't call it a professional forum or expect it to be run that way because it isn't professional and it isn't worth the effort to moderate it as if it was anything but "a bunch of folks hanging out and decompressing."

So there you have it exactly how Eric wanted it.
