I get the feeling he's going to change the website up a bit in the near future.

I think it will rebound just as quickly if he makes some changes.

Horseshoes is just not fun right now.

I don't think you'll see many people posting about horseshoeing on this site until the mods clean things up a little.

There is some people not posting on neither site at the moment

Well yeah. Nobody's going to post at horseshoes right now for obvious reason. Fewer and fewer people are going to post about horseshoeing here until changes are seen. There are some people who are probably just sick of it all.

A lot of us feel that way John. I've been drawn into some things I would normally resist. I'm trying to keep posting because I would really like to see both sites thrive, and I believe they can. It has been difficult, but please "keep the faith". I for one am going to try to stay on topic on the threads and try to post more pictures, hopefully to stimulate some discussion, but the last couple of weeks it's been so hot and busy it's been a task just to survive the week.

    Regards

Shoeing horses isnt a massive subject, relatively that is. This forum seems to have phases of disorder and phases of calm. Not unlike other forums I go on. The world seems to be very negative at the min and a touch unhappy. Its a very contagious thing. You turn on the radio the TV and its all doom.
Last night there were a few threads started about shoeing, Fair play they have remained about shoeing. But the car crash threads still atract the masses to post, and always will.
But that doesnt matter the two things keep up the traffic and maitain log ins.
The thing that will cause the end of the road is the lack of respect for people, I dont mean there sensitivities through disagreement but the snide one liners that ruin a thread, Fine in the car crash threads if you really must, but treat your fellow farriers some respect in the professional threads.
When Travis swore at me and told me I contribute nothing he was right, So I will do my best to up the shoeing threads and laugh at the funny stuff and mod the rest.

There is no need for anybody to be rude to a farrier or an owner
    on the forum .

    David,

I've been taking a break from both sites and am contemplating spending some time here again. But now I am very confused at the changes in the demographics of who is posting here. Also I don't know what a "car crash" thread is. As the moderator of the site can you explain how I can differentiate between a Professional thread and the car crash type that you indicated is more popular with the site members?

    Thanks!

George, your right to ask this it might give you an insite to my approach. There is and always will be threads that attract controversy, very differing opinions about stuff that goes on on the site. The two sides are diametrically opposed and battle to the death. Seems to be a virtual boxing match with rarely a winner. The guys that take part are very good at forum stuff way better than me.
If I see people getting carved up in that then the odd little life line gets thrown to rescue them, But usually you get the on the river bank offer them a towel and they throw themselves back in again.
But we cant help but look, and we cant help but cringe, EG car crash!!!
Then there is the threads that involve horse shoeing that set out to debate, inform, educate, change minds, benefit the horse, improve skill levels, counteract skill fade, educate horse owners, involve vets, get insite into the relevance of clinical history good x-rays and good photos.
I think they need a different touch those two subjects.
But I might be wrong George and I am new to this.

A car crash thread is where somebody stops their car in the middle of the road to avoid running over a clean turd. Invariably when the driver exits the vehicle to examine the turd, he or she forgets to turn on his or her 4-way flashers. The next driver to come along slams into the back of the car parked in the middle of the road. Now there are two wrecked cars in the road, neither have their 4-way flashers on. The drivers of both vehicles are undamaged, but the first car has now been pushed over the clean turd obscuring it from view. An argument ensues between the two drivers because the first driver insists that the turd was clean whilst the second, not being able to see the turd, refuses to accept the word of the other driver that the turd was indeed clean. You should be able to figure out how it goes from there.

I think it involves methods that block trouble making farriers here and hopefully get back to having a decent place for our veteran farriers that don't post here any more. I, for one, miss Bruce and Red and others' advice. No one can disagree that it's worth the tradeoff to get those vet farriers back.

It's a shame that Smitty's peers who respect him enough to offer him a visit to hold a clinic, may drive him away. Well, keeping the trouble makers will eventually drive him away.

So, are members really willing to keep the foul mouthed racist trouble makers instead of Smitty and other respected farriers who don't post here anymore?
