Those feet look very nice Gary...

on the horses I do normally "quarter horses" I find that the toe migrates forward over the cycle normally 5-6 weeks .. If I set the shoe back it seems to not do that .... I'm tryin to learn if it is how I set them up ... Trim them ... Or what .... I try to fit them up with length but maybe I don't put enough heel length on them .... I really don't know ...just that alot of the horses I do , if I perimeter fit them I get quit a bit of forward growth, as in flare ???

Layne, that is just growth? The hoof does grow down and forward, I believe if you apply a correct trim and keep the horses on a regular schedule you can monitor growth better and adjust your trims to suit?

Kim, you should use a toe clip at some point. The easiest thing to do when fitting a shoe is cut the toe quarters. You can see it when using a toe clip. The shape of your shoes suggest you cutting the toe quarters a bit.

I think with kegs you have to cut the toe quarters sometimes because of the pitch and/or depth of nail but it's always good to know.

haha, :cautious: Yes that's me at 137 lbs. Only 17 lbs more to go.

Yeah I had to crop the photo. The whole picture would have burned a few Retinas.

Would getting low toe nails be an indicator of cheating the quarters?

Eric and Kim - First - pardon my presence in this picture....

BUTT please explain further what you mean by cutting the toe quarters???? I ask cause on one of my horses I am noticing a "jamming" of the coronet on the heel quarters (like this foot) with the toe coronet seeming to "sink" when weight bearing.

hey you don't need to lose another 17lbs; you are fine just the way you are.:)

Remember muscle weight - weighs more - than fat. you need to be muscled out. It is not how much you weigh; but HOW you weigh.(y)

Go Organtic foods; and you will weigh what your body needs to be!!! That's what I eat; and it does make a HUGE difference on your weight!!! DO THAT FIRST BEFORE LOSING ANYMORE WEIGHT; and your body will tell you were your weight needs to be!

I am at 147 lbs. I am all muscle; except where I had a child; so 10lbs loss at the stomach would be good for me. But I am happy; because I have strength and solid muscle tone. ps I am built like a little bulldog:LOL:
