So being the famous, influential, prolific forum posting Farrier that I am, I have gotten many calls from younger (easily impressed) Farriers from all over the country, asking advice. I got a call last year from a fellow who had just ended a school/apprenticeship that had turned into a pay to pull and finish deal, that ended rather badly. He was looking for what to do next advice and I tried to encourage him to continue. He called again a few months later with a how to deal with a customer question, and let it slip out in the conversation that he was living in a homeless shelter. He moved again to the San Francisco area and called for contacts but was still "living in the brush". He got on as a helper/apprentice with a top Farrier now and has the opportunity to earn a living and learn the trade from a great guy. He's sharing an apartment and has things together quite well. He said I could tell his story with his name, but I'm leaving it out. Guess I should have left my name out to protect the innocent.
Bill, if you EVER stop posting the way you do , I am NOT gonna buy you a beer IF I ever get to California,,,,,or we evenually meet at at Farrier gig somewhere???? Love it Man!!
