Stumbled across this picture on Facebook, asking what it was. My guess was an old trauma to the coronary band with displacement and exposure of the chorium, now growing a streak of hoof wall into the "wrong direction" (hope I explained it right). Anybody knows what it is?
    Thanks for your answers!

Worm or snake, it look like it needs a trimming.

    Stef,
As for knowing what it is, I think you've a good grasp on it.;)

I would tell everyone it is a unicorn with a congenital defect.

When you trim it, you'll have to deal with the lateral distortion. A Patten shoe placed on the foot upside down and backwards may give support

Anybody here ever see the movie "From Beyond?" That hoof sort of reminds me of that thing sticking out of the guy's skull.

I had a horse with something similar growing out of the bulb of its heel:

I was told that it was most likely some kind of injury that had become infected with papillomavirus.
I assumed it was non vascular, but trimmed it circumspectly just in case.

I've seen things like you showed, Gary, and donkeys with five pound erogots, but never like Stef has above.
Hey Stef, pics of after you trimed it? Was there blood?

You guys crack me up :)

This was just a pic I found on FB, so I don't know if it was bleeding after the trim. If one of our twelve horses grows this type of unihorn, hoof worm or however it's called I will definitely know...
