I couldnt find this in the search function so Im asking.

Not evertime, but every now and again Ill get that little annoying looking ditch above the clinch that just looks so ugly like too much nail has been clinched over.I do not clinch to where the clinch holds the shoe on, rather it is thinned to lay against the wall.but is there a trick or am i doing somethin wrong?
It also seems to be in the latter nail holes down the branch away from the toe.

Sounds like you are over blocking your clinches.

As Tom said, set the clinch a bit less, use a gouge under the nail, then hammer the clinch down. You have more control as you watch them come down and can adjust as you go. You wont get the nail pulling down through the wall as they will with clinchers. Takes a lot of practice with some people though, like me for instance. Once you get it, it's more better.

Since you say it occurs more in the nails you drive closer to the heel. Without any pictures I would say you probably aren't driving them high enough and are clinching down in the shank.
