Hey all. I'm new to this forum. I'm 24 years old and have been riding for about 15 years. I'm in college pursuing a bachelors in biology. I've toyed with the idea of going to school to become a farrier for many years but I've become more serious about it recently. Any current farriers out there who can give me any helpful information on where they went to school, how they entered the field, equipment including truck that they use, etc would be greatly appreciated. I essentially would like to discuss the ins and outs of your experience. Thank you to all that respond!

To me it's the best job in the world you either love it or hate it. As ray said find a guy with a good rep to go with an learn all you can. The best education you'll get is under that horse. Don't ever be afraid to ask a mentor for help if your over your head or unsure. This isn't easy work it's a high cost to get into with a low income to start. Good luck with what ever your choice is.

This trade isn't something you try to do. It's a lifestyle supported by passion. The questions you asked are just details to be dealt with along the way. You have to decide to do this, no matter what, first.
