making hoof knifes

    Any knife makers out there? Ive made a few over the years out of springs and rasps but was never happy with the temper . straws too brittle and blue too soft . Can any one take the guess work out for me?What steel are you using

    A2, air hardening and tempers nicely in kitchen oven at 450f
