Hello all, Just joined - first post - after a nice fellow in a field told me to check you out. I have just bought a vintage Irvin-type Flying Jacket, and although I do have a pot of good quality leather treatment/preservative I was told that this would be the place to find a natural recipe. As far as I recall it consisted of Beeswax and Paraffin, in a certain ratio. COuld anyone shed light as to what this could be? I didn't want to ask what may be to you all a very obvious question, but I've been all over the forum searching and found nothing. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
ratio to do what with? leather? 1 cup of fabric softener in the wash, warm, and a 2 day dry works well for all leather chaps. Oil from drill and Tap fluid , lightly, after the dry and fold daily to fit ones con'firm'ation...
Thanks for your replies so far. Simply going with what was advised. Will certainly give Leatherworker a try, thank you Draftshoer. In answer to Mr Perry, yes, a vintage Flying Jacket, old an dry, in need of something. Was told somewhere on here is an excellent recipe for restoring/preserving/treating leather. Again, thanks.
He said natural! ...and I'm in for Saturday BTW. To the OP, Neatsfoot oil is natural and made for your purpose. Google it.
