    Had a few months off making shoes and started again today (except for concave out of the van on site), not easy to get motivated again!!!! started with some stock shoes and progressed to an egg bar heart bar, I was crap!!! or worse than usual.

    That is he way forward, I find my shoeing improves when I make shoes, so back to it!

    going to knock some 3/4 x 3/8 ally through the block and make some 13 1/2" plates out next week , what would you put in the toe as a wear plate ?

    I have flatend some 1/4 round, then put a splitter in the toe and tapped it down in.

    i am hoping 3/4 x5/16 ,i have had 1" x 3/8 on it but they want pltes on in front and they dont make them that big

    i was looking for a lazy way John , TBH i am not too pleased putting them on I dont think there is enough shoe but but its only for it to run in then back to 1" x 3/8 for training

    probably not but i would like to get a couple of races out of them , knowing my luck without an insert they will wear out in the parade ring

    David since you started this thread maybe it could be used to get members that want to
    make and fit hand-mades.
    concave and plain stamp and move it on as we all get better.
    have another thread for questions and answers on shoe-making.
    anyone can post here to help just a thought
