So what kind of shoes does everybody wear while working? I have worn everything from cowboy boots to steel toed "muck" boots. Usually I wear a comfortable pair of hiking boots. I have a few clients that warrant the steel toed pull on work boots. While we're talking boots lets go ahead and add the full uniform to the discussion. Summer time attire for me is jeans and t shirts.

khaki pant and a polo or t-shirt.
Steel toe boots. I got stepped on today. Brand new horse brought in from an auction. Bugger got the side of my foot though, so the steel toe didnt help. The thick leather sides did though.

Yeah thats my problem with steel toes. My little toe sticks out from behind the steel toe just far enough to get the sh#t stomped out of it.

I wear a safety toe/metatarsal boot built on a lightweight hiking boot platform.
Here is one style I have worn: http://workingperson.com/nautilus-safety-met-guard-work-hiking-boots-n1522.html
Its getting harder and harder to find lightweight boots of this type.

I've also got a pair of boots with an internal metatarsal guard but I don't like them as much. The guard is narrower and doesn't seem to protect as well as the external guards do. ymmv

cowboy boots are great for riding not so much for walking/working. A real cowboy will tell that. Talk to a podiatrist if ya don't believe me.

Steel toe pull ons all year.

Jeans most of the year though on real stinkers may wear shorts, collared sports shirt (ya know the type that's supposed to wick away sweat... but don't), maybe a truckies singlet to match the shorts on the stinkers.

Is anyone wearing custom embroidered/screen printed shirts? I thought about having a few done but as many times a day as I change shirts in the summer, it would cost a young fortune to buy all the shirts I'd need

well I find that is not true for me.
I have been in cowboy boots since I was teen; and if you want see what hurts feet; I was on Pointe/Ballet for over 10 years as a Ballerina!;)

If the cowboy boots have a "walking" heel and not a "riding" heel then wearing them to work shouldn't be a problem other than your toes and metatarsals have no protection. I prefer a lace-up boot to a pull-on boot because it gives better/more support to the ankle and if tall enough, the lower leg. On occasion, I do wear a safety toe sneaker even though my metatarsals aren't protected. As with most things, "It Depends" ;)

I wear the Whites "Packer" lace ups. They have unbelievable support. They are handmade and mine have the riding heel. Comfort is the best part of them. Wrangler jeans.....golf shirt...summer....longsleeve western shirt ...winter....plenty of copenhagen....."splat"....

I love my "White" packers. Have been wearing them for about 30yrs or so. It is a boot made for riding and walking, so great for shoeing. You can get them with steel toes also. They are rebuildable, and when you get them back they are already formed to your foot, and they cost half the price.

I agree 100%! They are the best hand made, most comfortable, pure latigo leather with steel shanks, quality from top to bottom...

Up to about 60 years of age, I wore cowboy boots exclusively for everything (my at the time young daughter asked me once if I knew how to tie shoes"). It was a mistake. I now shoe in lightweight hiking boots and only wear my cowboy boots on "dress up " occasions.

I wear Nicks 8" low heel with a spring heel sole that has EVA foam in the heel, steel toes of course. Similar to the link below, but I don't have Lace to Toe-it pushes the laces too close to the steel toe. I want to try a pair like Rick has because the two issues that I have with this boot is the weight after long days and no met protection.

http://www.nicksboots.com/specialor...ely rebuildable for years of extended service.

I also love the underarmour flyweight run shirts. Super light with just the right fit.
