Hi i'm thinking of putting a slide-out in my van its a NISSAN PRIMASTAR my question is would it be possible to get a slide out to fit my van from the USA and would it be to dear to haul it over to Ireland
John, cost of shipping ,as you know, depends on the weight, size of space, speed at which you want delivery and brokerage costs for import into your country etc. ex . I brought some product in from Europe, 253 kg, about a 42" x 48" x 48" pallet by air. It was around 1000 euro to get it into Boston plus $300.00 to truck it from Boston to Gill. I'm going to guess that the broker will charge another 300. to 400. for paperwork/bond etc.. The pull outs will weigh depending on how much weight you want to put on them and have them work and hold up. The table top it self would ,in my opinion, be foolish to ship when you could buy the steel/al. or wood (your choice) over there. That all said, a slide out is basically a drawer slide, the mechanics/engineering of which you can see at a hardware store that sells materials for kitchen cabinets etc.. I have found it safer to look at things like this at the store rather than to take the cabinets drawers apart at home for my education. Once you see this the basic glide mechanism it is easily fabricated and you just add your own "drawer bottom", platform to your glides. You would probably have to modify anything that you bought anyway or provide a very detailed set of plans for a custom made. I think I've seen that you have worked with a piece or a couple of pieces of metal before, if not you could probably find a farrier/smith, fence and gate techinician, in Ireland who has! If need be, you buy the ticket and the goods and I'll deliver. Regards Ray Steele
Great thing about communication, John posted this question on Horseshoes.com and rcd a response from directing him to a site in Great Britian that makes slide outs. Now he can pick one out on his way to Stoneliegh! The bad for me is I guess he'll not be buying me my next ticket. Regards Ray Steele
John, nice units, are you going to buy or build? I'm not familiar with the Nissan that you have, but I guessing that it is a similar van as the one in the MV pix. Please correct if I'm wrong. Regards ray
