http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=606001 The guy called Heelfirst is a farrier, He calls himself a referal farrier, now he has seen the light and barefoot trims. These guys believe a flare is a horse growing a lateral extention. They would like me banned, I wonder why.
Unbelievable. So, are contracted heels must be an attempt by the horse to correct a broken forward HPA by sinking the heels into the ground more. Regards
So that is who is spreading that misinformation around. Amazing how some people can latch on to any B.S. provided.
Funny thing is if one of his horses was referred to me and I think it was, does that make me a referral farrier who has referrals from a referral farrier? He wrote a book once, called the horses foot. It isnt a bad book for its time.
Huh? You want him inducted into a trade association and then banned? Or did you perhaps mean gilded? If so, why waste the time, effort and money to cover him in a thin layer of gold leaf only to then ban him?
or did i mean gelded ? im surprised he didnt become a cytec guru David , i didnt realise he was now a barefooter
There have been 1 or 2 people suggested that over the years! He is quite a clever articulate and literate guy, but I dont have the problems with horses feet that the barefoot contingent suggests that going bare foot would cure if that makes sense. I am worried that capsule deformation is considered as beneficial for the horse, would some of our more informed farriers on here care to comment. for me flares are buckling of excess horn caused by weight transference under load.
