A 1 1/4" spade bit attached to a hammer drill?
    An 8" angle grinder?
    Chainsaw?
    Machete?
    Jackhammer?
    C4?

Just wondering what they use to make the great cavernous lesions that I am somehow expected to shoe around?

(My query obviously excludes those minority of excellent vets who can create discrete drainage with a deftly applied searcher).

Once saw a vet dig a big ol hole at the sole wall junction. Had blood gushing, just kept wiping it with 4x4 gauze and back to digging. Asked him "Got an abscess?". . .

"Yeah a bad one that keeps coming back."

He wrapped it up and the horse made bloody foot prints as it walked off. Would've been better off with some xrays and just resecting the wall.
